Well, we all change as people as we grow older. I suppose this thread is probably leaned toward the older audience on OT but everyone is welcome to comment if you can relate.

Life has taught me many many things. For example, I use to think being homosexual was wrong and now I look back and think about how ignorant I use to be. Or sometimes I'll think of things I said when I was about 13 and how thoughtless they were. It's quite interesting looking back as you change through life and observe how you use to be.

So, my question is, as you grew as a person...is there anything you look back on and think "Whoa, I was a douche" or "No wonder that person was rude to me" or even "What the hell was I thinking??" or just in general, how have you changed over the years? Maybe not in those exact words, but you know what I mean (hopefully) :P

Hmm, well I don't think I can really pin-point one exact thing that changed drastically, but I think I've just all around matured as a human-being. I've become much more comfortable with who I am, and with that have become much more confident in myself and my works. Which has done wonders for me in terms of social relationships, and quality of work I produce at work and school.

I used to be an a-hole to my parents, and I was also a firm believer in the bible (OT) so I had some crazy views on the world.

I also spent my years in elementary school putting other people down.. that's what I really regret the most.

I can definantly relate to the bible one. I use to push it on people without even realizing it and then wondered why people would call me a bible thumper lol.... I thought I was "saving them"

I'm MUCH more open-minded than I use to be.

I used to think being gay or bisexual was wrong too, but now I have a few bisexual friends (all of them girls though) and they sort of changed my opinions. They're still great friends, they're still the same people that I've known for a long time.

I was impressionable early, believing things were wrong that didn't agree with me. now, I don't really care what people think so long as they don't try to force them on me.

Oh, I also used to be really shy, but I've gotten over that somewhat. Started singing in a band which kind of forces you to get over being shy. So that also has really helped me develop as a person.

Over the last year and a half I've gained self confidence, dropped gaming, taken up an interest in music, lost weight, gained muscle, made heaps more friends, dropped some old ones and started going out way more all while improving my school results.

I'm happy where I'm headed as a person now and my only regret is the 3ish years I wasted stuck in the rut of school/gaming/sleep.

I have always been a somewhat shy person, but after puberty that all ended. I secluded myself from the outside world... becoming antisocial, and frankly just an angry person. A seer hatred for each and every person I came across. Didn't have to even know them. Everyone said I would grow out of it; it was a faze. Well, it's stuck with me even to date. "Less", but hardly. Making friends is still difficult for me (down right impossible all during high school.) and getting/maintaining a job is a pain in the ass.

People that knew me when I was younger say I'm like a completely different person. I guess that goes under the definition of "change"

Kind of the opposite for me.. I went from being outgoing to being shy. I don't know why, it just happened as soon as I started HS. I also developed a couple of weird phobias. :|

The exact same thing happened to me. I'm a really shy person even still. I'm polite when I talk to people, but I'm not all that talkative.

Due to my upbringing I was pretty much without any sense of logic for a large portion of my life. Racist, against homosexuality, intolerant of anyone not strictly christian. The whole nine yards of stupidity. Thankfully I got my marbles and think logically these days. I also really didn't embrace myself for a long while, tried to hide things about who I was, change myself to satisfy others. These days I'm very confident about myself, finally have the whole self-esteem thing going on.

That sounds exactly like how I use to be, even the changes you went through. Very similar. It's a really great feeling thinking on your own though, isn't it? Almost like a breath of fresh air.

It's hard to pinpoint something... I guess my whole outlook on the world in general has changed. That would probably be the biggest thing. When I think back to 10 years ago, life seemed so perfect. I didn't have a care in the world. Now I know what people mean when they say life's a b****. :P

Also, I was raised a Christian, but now I see that all religions have faults, none of it makes any sense, and I'd rather not associate myself with one.

I can't really think of any huge changes. I suppose I used to be a bit quieter, and less sociable during my high school years. Over all, I think I'm the same guy I've always been.

Well, I used to not appreciate the attention of the opposite sex because I was fit and played multiple sports in school but now that I am older and not in shape anymore I get treated alot differently by the opposite sex and I regret how I treated some girls back then so now I try and make up for that whenever I happen to have a relationship now by trying to show my feelings with actions along with words and show my appreciation for others.

I think I tend to be less of a jerk, but I don't think I've ever changed much in sixteen years of existence. I'm still a preschooler with learning disabilities who is over-talkative. I don't think I'll ever be another person.

I'm exactly where i want to be in life. The path i've taken i wouldn't change even if i had to do it over again. I mean i'm only 22 years old now, not much to regret yet. Ask me in 20 years, then maybe I would re-evaluate.

I've learned (the hard way) about patience and wisdom as I've grown older. That old saying, "choose your battles wisely"... definitely true. Things that use to irritate me, and motivate me to action... I've learned to let slide. Calm discussion will resolve all most all problems. I've learned to be less demanding and a lot more accepting... because some things will never change. All part of becoming an adult I guess.

Yeah, I never understood the saying "Choose your battles wisely" until I got older. Later on in life is when I realized that I was only tiring myself out on fighting things I couldn't change or things that were miniscule in comparison.

Another good lesson that I learned the very hard way was "If you try to please everyone, you please no one" I can't even begin to tell you how true that is.

I regret never saying anything to that one chick.

I mean, I might have loved her.
