I say, give the man a medal for standing up and defending himself from possible prowlers/burglars. Who cares if they are young girls, all the better as it shows these young *****es that they aren't invincible, and shouldn't be doing the wrong thing without fear of consequences.

What gets me, if it's common knowledge, or an accepted fact that he is weird, then why disturb him in the middle of night and not expect some drastic and rash consequences for your actions?

For the man, a medal,

For the girl who got shot...

The kids shouldn't have been trespassing.krazykillaz

Suppose one of your kids(if u have any) crosses my property line.........

With that remark, you're giving consent to shoot them down, because, whether innocent or not, "they shouldnt've been trespassing". Right?

What should've happened IMO, was Davis should've let them know they were on his property instead of just shooting at first glance. You give a fair warning before you do what you feel you have to do in order to "protect" your home. I'm certain, he could've waited a bit before shooting, or could've yelled something like :

"You're on PRIVATE PROPERTY!! Get off or face ramifications!!!"

Surely, had he been on the recieving side of innocently trepassing unto someone's properly and getting shot, his view would be totally dif. I guarantee it

If they did it repeatedly, and have heard "firecracker sounds" when they did it in the past? I'd hope he would want to get rid of a kid that dumb.

Truth_Seekr
sounds like he was already harassed.

After the shooting, two neighbors told police that they had seen teenagers near Davis' home before, and several others had heard his mother, Sondra, talk about harassment. Nine neighbors said they had heard firecracker-type sounds, sometimes over a period of months, but none called police.

That's a poor defense. Your kids should be taught to respect other people's property in the first place. If I had kids, that doesn't mean my kid would be above the law just because they're my kids. I'd accept the consequences that my children take.

The same could be said for the girl, she was transpassing. It's not as serious as shooting someone, but a law is a law.

Due to the rules of Criminal Law

The man would've only been pardoned had the cheerleader been carrying a weapon of equal force.

It's a criminal offense to shoot anyone, unless they're carrying a gun as well...

stupid, yes, but truth.

Especially because she was hit in the head-area, which could prove that he was shooting to kill...

Obviously. I simply agree with the sentiment that mentioning she's "a young pretty teenage chearleader" as if it matters is ridiculous. Total sympathy pull on the case and I guarantee there would have been a different outcome if it wasn't the stereotype of human gold who was the "victim."

Naturally, he should go to jail and shouted many a warning beforehand, then called the police about the trespassing. Instead of going all vigilante redneck on her.

My comment was sorta like me saying "owned." Because this story in particular shot a little grin across my face. I feel bad but it was worth it. haha

No, at least in Tennessee, if someone has broken or is breaking into your home, you can shoot them in self defence.

that sucks for the girl who got shot, but you think that one would be smart enough not to return to an area that sounds like a gun was shot in also, even if the guy had signs marking his property line to warn about no trespassing, it was ten at night and would not have made any difference even though the man is from a family in which one member claimed to be raped by a space alien, i find that 19 years in jail is harsh for defending property on which trespassing was a problem

I'll admit that the girl didn't deserve to be shot in the head, but it shouldn't be a big surprise if they're walking around on a strange person's property.

Maybe. But she shouldn't go to prison. Question his actions all you want, but don't claim he did anything illegal. I totally agree, he should have chilled out. Called the cops, shot into the air to scare em off. But at the same time he was totally within the law.

Nice try speaking for me, but you're wrong. The first thing I noticed wrong about that article was the "pretty blonde cheerleader" part and how it was unnecessarily added in there. I posted the picture so people would simply have a visual, I would've done it had it been a fat ugly girl and a handsome killer. So next time think before you try to tell someone their intentions.

What should've happened IMO, was Davis should've let them know they were on his property instead of just shooting at first glance. You give a fair warning before you do what you feel you have to do in order to "protect" your home. I'm certain, he could've waited a bit before shooting, or could've yelled something like :

Surely, had he been on the recieving side of innocently trepassing unto someone's properly and getting shot, his view would be totally dif. I guarantee it

I'm sure they know better now, but Iguess the point I'm trying to make, is that it might've not been neccessary to shoot at them. Send a dog or something until it becomes imminent. This is why us Americans are always viewed by other nations in a negative way.
