Jesus would smite christian rock bands with his holy wrath for producing music that is so offensive to the ears it's grievously sinful to listen to...

Wait, what?

Anyway, I enjoy a couple bands/songs, but I mostly listen to secular music because there's more styles and songs to choose from. Christian rock just has a very small pool of choices.

Who knows...I don't like it a bit. But I do like Gospel on the other hand. These songs are so emotionally powerful and fun

Rain on us

Walking in authority

We Fall down

Listen I'm not a super Christian or extremist that goes around trying to convert people. I just think Gospel is a very great genre since this is a Christian music thread. Whether atheist, agnostic, etc. whatever religion the emotion in these songs are captiviating.

No because it's all the stuff he already did, you can only listen to the same stuff over and over so many times

He'd be like "Guy I can surf now! I don't even worry about wiping out because I can just walk back to my board! And I took up a cooking class, these convection ovens? They make my pasties in half the time"

Jesus has been doing new stuff all the time but the music about him only covers a very small portion of everything he's done

I think he means secular music, but it's hard to tell. For one, secular just means non-religious and I don't really see how religious music "justifies [secular] music in God's name." I don't get it, I guess.

I never assumed that.

It always seemed to me that people in Christian rock just speak about their problems but always add God as a central parametre to all of this, and the messages they proclaim are anti-promiscuity, anti-this, anti-that.

anything that has a good message and /or honor's/glorifies him is a good thing

but any music that has a negative message about him, or is filled with sin/sinful things, of course he would dissaprove of..

as long as Christian rock is about him/praising him and so forth, it's not a problem

GabuEx

For someone who considers themself a Christian, I'm surprised you don't know. It comes from John 8:23, which is, "But he continued, "You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.""

It basically means that what is worldly is anything that isn't of God, which, ironically, was created by God.

Anyway, I don't know if Jesus would listen to Christian music. If I would hazard a guess, I would say he wouldn't, not because they're not praising him (they are), but because they do a poor impression of it. I would imagine Jesus would have some pretty high standards of what he expects in people's faith in him and no one can satisfy.

I think if Jesus Christ was a real person, and the son of God then yes. He'd at least be open to new ideas, thoughts & music. Not narrow and closed minded. Now the question was a bit tricky, he may listen to it a few times, but hate it :P.

Well with his long hair and sandals, I'd position him more as a Joan Baez fan, or something similar. White metal's probably 'too heavy man', but like most people he'd have a good chuckle at the likes of Stryper I'm sure..

Jesus probably had short hair. Paul wrote in Corinthians 11:14, " Does not nature itself teach you that if a man wears long hair it is a disgrace for him". Seeing as he saw a vision of Jesus, it would stand to reason that he would not be speaking badly about Jesus in that verse.

I think he would groove to just about anything that just wasn't horrible, and if it was horrible, I do not think he would deliberately dismiss it, he might actually "cure" it. lqtm sorry I had to, it was just too funny.

No not nature, its society, agendas, "morals" its environmental, if he lived in the Icy lands of the North it would be the norm, because it would be intelligent to have it there for warmth.

As a follower of Christ who adheres to the doctrines of grace (TULIP), the Bible says nothing about style. Christianity is an intellectual faith that celebrates the things God has revealed. Things like aseity, omnipotence, omniscience, omnisapience, Christ's two natures, sola scriptura, dotrine of endless punishment...ect. As long as the lyrins are scripturally sound then the msuic is fine. I listen to rap or what is better termed lyrical theology. Others listen to blues. Others country. There are different styles, but as long as the doctrine is fine there is nothing wrong with it.
