"When it comes to God, outside of the Christian perspective, there is a 50-50 chance of him existing. He either does or doesn't. Christians, by believing in God, are covered for the afterlife, if it so happens to exist. But Atheists, they drive without insurance, if they're right, they go no where, if they're wrong, well, just remember that Stop drop and Roll does not work in Hell."

He brings up a very valid point.

Why don't atheists just believe in God, but not actively participate in Christian activities such as going to church?

Just believing gets you a ticket into heaven.

So why not?

Typically this is only an argument that I would ever think to use if they were considering Christianity or were of a specific faith. For example, this question tends to work better with Mormons than atheists.

You'd think god would be smart enough to know if someone is just pretending to believe in him so they could trick there way into heaven.

But then again this is the Christian god we're talking about.

If I wanted to believe in god/gods it probably wouldn't be the christian god. If I had to chose it would be the greek gods. They are badass.

because god cares so much for people believing in him that he can throw people to hell if they don't?

I love how people say that since you don't believe in their god, you are going to suffer and get tormented for the rest of your life. Great God.

If a god punishes people for not believing in itself (without providing evidence of its own existence (thus tries to trick people but making religion illogical)) or let people be born in a region without the religion, then I rather be in hell than with that God in heaven,

Implying the Christian God is the most likely. Deistic god or a pantheistic god seem to be more probable than a personal deity. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantheism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deism

Take this for example There's a 50-50 percent chance that you're an idiot Beyond that we could see loads of proof of your idiocy (i.e your claims in this thread) But we still do not have all the facts, it is mere guess work based off of your actions so it is 50-50

Christianity keeps finding ways to sink to new lows. The whole point of religion is to make someone a better person. Not to buy "insurance" for going to heaven. If I were a religious man I would be offended by this thread.
