"Why don't atheists just believe in God, but not actively participate in Christian activities such as going to church?"

That just assumes that the Christian God is the correct one, what if all of them are worshiping the wrong god, or the wrong version of that god? What if Zeus is the 'correct' god? Then Christians are going to Hades or something, right? I don't know the punishment for not believing in Amun-Ra or other gods is, but most religions are 'our religion is right, and no other is', so... just count the number of religions that exist, and have existed, then figure your odds from there.

Atheists are either right or wrong; religious people are either right, wrong religion, or just plain wrong.

There is no third box, but there is no grounding evidence, like a million coin tosses, that suggest that they are equally likely, and likewise the claim that there is a 50-50 chance is the stupidest thing I've read today.

Take this for example There's a 50-50 percent chance that you're an idiot Beyond that we could see loads of proof of your idiocy (i.e your claims in this thread) But we still do not have all the facts, it is mere guess work based off of your actions so it is 50-50

Atheism doesn't deny the existence of God, that is impossible. We just say there isn't any proof. Such a large claim should have some proof. lol@50/50cheese_game619

Atheism is the abesence of a claim in terms of religion. We don't need proof because it's impossible to prove a negative. Since they are trying to prove god's existence, they have all the responsibility in proving it's existence, until they can prove it's existence; god by default doesn't exist.

You'd think god would be smart enough to know if someone is just pretending to believe in him so they could trick there way into heaven.

But then again this is the Christian god we're talking about.

toast_burner
Its not about pretending to believe in him, its about actually believing in him but just not going 2 church. Believing in God gives u the chance to go to Heaven. Not believing symbolizes hatred toward God and basically automatically puts u in hell

Because faith isn't a choice, just like the thoughts that stream into your head aren't. Its not obvious, but think about it, your conscious is pulling stuff forward for itself to choose from, and it seems to us it is pulling it out of thin air. The thoughts that come to us like the snap of a finger, whenever we recall that weird fact or pointless memory, its not choice. Neither is faith. Faith is an amazing thing, because you can't choose it. Some of us look at the sky and know there is something out there. Some of us look up and accept there is only us, the universe, and what we make of it. Others aren't sure. So what choice do you have, do you fake it for God? Something tells me he'd know.

You can't choose to have faith.

whats the point of this? so atheists should live life pretending to have faith in god yet they wont truly have faith?and according to to the bible you got to have faith to enter the kingdom of god...as i said so whats the point of pretending if you have no faith?

Although TC is a known troll the sad thing is some people do think this way about Christianity and religion in general. Some people really do believe that going to church and saying you believe in something null and voids your hell card. The fact that people will place faith in a religion like they would place a bet in roulette is just distressing and a poor example of someone with actual faith in what they believe.

You won't face any consequences with God But your physical body will, by the Law

I believe that, once saved always saved

You can kill a whole preschool of kids, but you can never drop from faith.

You would be put to death by State Law, But you'd never drop from faith from God.

It may be wrong

It may be stupid

It may be disgusting beyond all comprehensible levels

In your eyes

But that's what Makes God God

That's what makes him the immeasurable force of power he is.

The unlimited amount of forgiveness he cascades upon you.

You only see it as wrong because the human mind cannot comprehend the immenseness of this trait of God.

Just like how humans cannot grasp the sheer magnitutde of the universe, or the non-existance of time before it was created by God.

The human mind simply cannot swallow this pill.

It takes YEARS of practice to even accept this sheer leap of faith.
