when many think of christianity they think of the Church but there is really so much more to it. its about having a personal relationship with God himself. I dont know how people live their lives thinking things are only real if they can be explained scientifically but you must look beyond that. if one looks at the Old testament you will see that it is the only book of prophecies to ever be 100% fulfilled without being wrong. its not really about seeing is believing because quoting from the bible"Then Jesus told him, 'Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed'" (John 20:29).

i know many of you on here are atheist and believe that religion is just a way to keep the masses from going crazy but i honest to God believe that is wrong. i believe that many of you are just scared of the unknown or dont even try.

so why deny it? its all around us

Nostradamus's writings have never been proven wrogn either. The reason? Because the writings are so vague that they could mean pretty much anything. As it is with the passages in the bible.

Why? I was basically raised Christian started at about the age of 9. I took to it really fast. But then slowly, through pain and experience in my own life. I've decided to not trust a God I don't believe cares about me.

What was Jesus referring to when he said believed? Believe that he was son of god? 'Cause I don't think that every person that has seen Jesus was a believer.

if you look at how everything happened in the universe you cant trace it back to one thing and thats why science isnt successful coming up with a reason as to why everything happened. most other gods besides greek and roman gods were created hundreds of years after the death of christ. science is just as much a belief system as religion is when it comes to how everything happens

To the poster... Read my blog on myspace.com/elburritogrande . I recently have been coming into some very new, very exciting realizations that are coming from within me completely. I never understood a lot of what I'm starting to figure out. I can tell you simply it goes far beyond our physical comprehensions. "Religious experience, being essentially spiritual, can never be fully understood by the material mind; hence the function of theology, the pyschology of religion. The essential doctrine of the human realization of God creates a paradox in finite comprehension. It is well-nigh impossible for human logic and finite reason to harmonize the concept of divine immanence, God within and a part of every individual, with the idea of God's transcendence, the divine domination of the universe of universes. These two essential concepts of Deity must be unified in the faith-grasp of the concept of the transcentence of a personal God and in the realization of the indwelling presence of a fragment of that God in order to justify intelligent worship and validate the hope of personality survival. The difficulties and paradoxes of religion are inherent in the fact that the realities of religion are utterly beyond mortal capacity for intellectual comprehension."

if you look at the muslim religion all it really is, is a copycat of several other religions. look what happens in the end of the Koran. mohamoud flys away on a pegasus. the new testament isnt full of legends and innacuracy. it is full of things that were very real at the time such as roman law.

Christianity does not come up with a reason for why everything happens either. It merely pushes the first cause back one by saying God created everything, then not giving the cause of God (the Bible cops out by saying he has always existed:roll:). Science, however, actually does have a solution to this problem. Causality was meaningless in the pre-Big Bang mass. General relativity broke down and things did not have to follow the laws of our universe or happen for any kind of reason. Therefore, the Big Bang did not happen for any kind of reason as we understand it. There really didn't have to be a first cause in this case.

I'm not scared of the unknown, I believe in ghosts and the supernatural, I know there's countless things out there that science doesn't understand yet and many more that we'll never understand because our understanding is extremely limited.

I am a spiritual person, I am even open to the possibility of a higher power (maybe conscious, maybe not), I just don't believe what any of the organized religions tell me, because they are man-made. Priests, regardless of their title, are humans just like me, and they are just as clueless as I am, no matter how desperately they'd like to believe otherwise. The simple truth is humans just don't have the answers, and a title of priest coupled with some fancy clothing and a 2000-year-old book aren't going to change that.

Muhammad was illiterate, and he had never studied any other religion. Also, he didn't fly on a Pegasus. I have no idea where you got that from.

Also, what does Islam have to do with Christianity in this topic?

Hahhaha,

You DO REALISE that Christianity, Judaism and Islam ALL STEM FROM THE SAME STORY right? They are simply 3 different forms of worship. They all worship the same god.

Religion is open to improvement and reevaluation though it and the vast majority of it's believers will come kickign and screaming along the way. I mean look at how long it's taking some religious believers to accept evolution even though the last 3 popes have stated that it is foolish to deny it.

Stuff like this pretty much makes it impossible for me to ever believe in the christan god...the belief that a great bearded man in the sky made ALL THIS, just so he could make us, then test us and put us in either infinite torture or joy, based on the infinitesimal amount of time on this tiny and utterly insignificant rock.....it just strikes me as another egotistic attempt by humans to explain how we got here and why.

What you lose is freedom and free thought.

Consider this. If you had been born in India, would you have ended up a Christian?

A comedian once said you should sin every day, because if you don't, Jesus died for no reason.

Now THAT'S funny.
