CISPA has passed, gives government unlimited power to regulate the internet

I'm surprised there's no thread on this already, but then again that just goes to show why this bill passed in the first place: no one was paying attention to it, even though it was just SOPA 2.0. Except that now instead of just caring about copyright it now gives the government free reign to do whatever it wants on the internet as long as it's to "cybersecurity crime, protection of individuals, and protection of children" (ie, whatever they want since those three things are so vague you can use them to justify anything).

Now granted the white house has said Obama will veto the bill, but then that's what they said about the NDA 2011 bill and we all know how that ended up.

Honestly, the government doesn't deserve our attention anymore anyways.

I say to just live our lives as if they were no part of us.

This could be easily abused.

It's more than just CISPA that I'm mad about. More & more unconstitutional bills being passed, such as NDAA, more & more of our rights being taken away, etc. This country is officially a joke now. A complete JOKE.

I'll be surprised if this passes in the Senate, but hey so long as Obama has said he would veto it I can sleep somewhat comfortably.

Part of the reason he didn't veto the NDAA was because if he did veto the bill it would have pretty much shut down the military to include making it where troops wouldn't have got paid until the bill did pass.

This bill, if vetoed, wouldn't cost people their paychecks for an indefinite period of time. But at the same time a veto override is always possible with enough votes.
