This really isn't even a viable argument......becouse the same could be said of the koran, and hindu and buddhist scriptures.......

buddha was real, just not neccasarily a god. Some forms of buddhism si it more of a spiritual guide to life then a religion.

All forms do.... Buddhism is a nontheistic religion. They don't believe in God and they don't not believe in God.

Then home come (I read this in Rolling Stone so it maybe wrong) they considered the Dalah Lama(sp) a "living God"?

They most definitely do not consider Gautama Buddha a living God

The Dalai Lama is a spiritual or mental leader. However you want to think about it.

It annoys me greatly... They just generalize that ALL Athiests are anti-christian and hate people due to religion etc... Im athiest and proud, but i don't cvare what people believe in. You can believe in God, i wonm't change my opinion of you because of it. SO long as you dont stuff religion down my throat *which happens alot as you coudl imagine.* than im fine.JumpingMirrior
Agreed. I'm also athiest.

This intolerance you show toward Christians is no better than the intolerance from Christians you are referring to.

Real Christians who are right with the Lord do not act like intolerant morons for the most part.

I would hope they don't.

Well I am Christian and I agree with the man in the video people need to learn to stfu and keep their beliefs to themselves and not try to force them on anyone, and that goes to everyone. Atheist, Christian, Muslim, etc those words are just titles we use to describe our beliefs in the end we are all people and we should all learn to get use to each other.

Since when did Atheism become a collective body of unified interests? For as much as I've seen, Athiests are just people who make a commited statement regarding a belief, but it isn't an indication of a belief or lack thereof in the first place.

At any rate, just burn them already. Thats what's common yes? Burning people alive for heresy? Then the Jews because nobody seems to like them. Ever. Or is gassing Jews now the preference? Then the Gnostics if there are any still left, then the Muslims because those jackasses are encroaching their faith on the Holy lands. Plus those ignorant natives too what with their foreign godless ways. Then when there's nothing left but Christians, annihilate the smaller denominations until only the one true one remains (whatever one that's still left presumably).

After that, when there's no legitimate target, take on the ones of the surviving denomination who fight for freedom to live as they want.

At least this is how it went before. Those damned unbelievers... always causing trouble.

Like the expressions. "I feel like a god." or "it's god like" God meaning uncanny, extraordinary or superior.

Actually the phrase on the bill was meant to reference Lincolns supposed usage of it in the Gettysburg Address, least that was the excuse given. Obviously it was another but succesful attempt in a series of failed ones to have added it in. Since then, any omission of 'under god' has been vehemently campaigned agaist.

After all, it's quite a fight to get it in there in the first place so the fight goes on to protect it, only now it's much easier since you can paint any position otherwise as unpatriotic.

Well, thanks for the lesson, but seriously, in 1950 something you're telling me they could have been talking about Zeus? (Of course to an atheist they're the same thing, right?) Generally, in America, when someone says God with the big "G" they're talking about a monotheistic religion. And since Christianity is the predominate monotheistic religion in America(unless it isn't somehow), it's a high probability that they're refering to the Chrisitan one when saying "In God We Trust." Which is the one I believe in btw.

That's all I'm saying.

Church and state, not Church and country. Besides.. it is by heritage. When they say nation they don't mean the people. They mean the nation. Most law is based on religion. Modern law is a production of religion. Like many other nations America and it's customs are founded on christian creed. Most North Americans Celebrate christmas.

The thing with the money though is that it specifically refrences the Christian god. Only the Christian god is referred to by name as "God". The Jewish god (same guy really, but w/e) is referred as Yahweh. The Muslim god is Allah. Then you get to other religions which have multiple gods, so that instantly disqualifies their religion as being included in the "In God We Trust" language (since it would then have to read "In All Gods We Trust"). Then you have the pledge of alligence: "...under God". That's pretty damn specific. It doesnt say "under a god" it says "under God". This is all different from the expressions that you mentioned since all of them only refrence the status of being a god, whereas the expressions such as "In God We Trust" refrence a (as in one) god.

Actually it isn't. The US heritage of law comes from Napoleonic Code which it then preceeded by Byzantines I think and then traced back to laws established by the Romans, due to the administrative need to govern their empire and the peoples within it.

So technically we are a christian nation. We still celebrate christmas and live by the creed of christian religions.

I don't even know why they even added that in God we trust to the currency. Maybe the figured since the 70% of Non-religious americans celebrate christmas and rest celebrate some sort of other religious holiday there shouldn't be any reason for the the currecny not to say "In god we trust"

It just says in "god we trust" It's generic. It could be any god. If you gave god a name that would offend anyone who believes in another god. In god we trust. Which god? pfft whichever god you want it to be.

read my above post as to why it doesnt refer to just any god. Also, most religions are anything but a spinoff of a christianity. Hinduism, buddhism, shintoism, to say nothing of the thousands of tribal religions in the world.   The Greeks and Romans had religion. All forms of law are based on religion, because if people weren't taught to believe murder is wrong through creed there wouldn't be laws, because nobody wouldn't see a problem with other poeple doing whatever the hell they feel like.

Religion is discipline, ethics and wisdom. It's a practice of order. What is law? A practice of order which is based on discipline, ethics and wisdom.

I agree with these guys 100%. Most atheists dont care what there beliefs are. All athiests are out there to do is prove that Religion is wrong. What is atheism? Atheism is all about trying to prove religious people wrong. If Atheists really believed something, they would sit at home and believe what they want to. But they dont do that, they are always out their trying to annoy religious people and fight with them. Thats what athiesm is all about, fighting with religion and trying to disprove it.

So in my opinion.

My definition of Athiesm is. Athiesm: People who do not have their own beliefs. But are just out there to fight with religion and prove them wrong for no particular reason.

Im an Athiest, i could care less what peoples beliefs were. If they are a christain, fine, i wont force them into believing there is no god. Its their choice to believe what they want to believe. The only thing that gets me mad is when people say "Oh no, there is a god, your wrong" and... basically what the people on CNN were saying. I only try to prove them wrong if they try to prove me wrong.

Whenever Stephen A. Smith looks sane, there is a problem.

its kindof a strange thing. i think if people want their schools to say a prayer in school than shouldn't that be ok? but wouldn't that mean all the religions should be represented? or should we just care about the majority? or should we let the schools be a house of learning and not a house of religion?

I'm just glad they included Stephen A. Smith in there...or else that video would've seriously lacked all acceptance. The ignorance of the two ladies in the video just astounded me...ff7fan2
He didn't seem much better to me. "Atheists have real problems in the south." I am so sick of southern prejudice.
