WTF how does saying that have to do with southerners that really doesn't make any sense what a pathetic attempt.....

XD4NTESINF3RNOX

Only making note that I usually hear southerners go into the whole "This is Americuh!" thing. I am sure others use the term as well, but southerners is what first comes to my mind.

wow you just made yourself look like a complete **** I'm southern and I don't talk like that...God i hate ignorant people such as yourselves.....I would probably have punched you right now...

Flying off the handle and letting your emotions get the best of you is not smart. And in the case of punching me, could get you a near death experience. ;)

But anyway, I did not say all southerners talk like that. I said all people I have seen use that term are southern. There is a difference. And by the way, my whole family is in Mississippi and I was raised there as much as my home state of Missouri (which is pretty country in and of itself). I have no ill will toward the south, and try to go back as often as possible.

Basicilly the tax is only about 5 FREAKIN CENTS. Soda costs TWO CENTS to make and the companies themselves overcharge and your complaning about this?

All southerns would be millions of people. All people I have heard use that phrase (even if all of them are from the south) would be dozens. Understand?

[QUOTE="fidosim"] I'm referring to that old tired Republican "me first" philosophy, and Bush/McCain economics.fidosim

Umm, I'm still failing to see the relation of this to the posts you quoted... :?

Sorry, I get carried away when I roleplay. :D Anyway, my post was referring to what you see as the problem with the Republican Party. You were annoyed with Pirate saying we can "go back to being America" because you don't feel that Obama's economics are unamerican. I was pointing out that the individualist, profit-seeking spirit of American businesses is largely responsible for America's economics success.

It's not a matter of that, and I do agree with you. But, referring to a president, candidate, etc. as "unamerican" is really where I draw the line. If you have an issue with someone's policies, offer an actual criticism. Don't call them "unamerican."

Did anyone read my post? Basicilly this soda tax isn't even a big deal because its only a few cents (OMG FACISM!)

Soda costs around a few cents to make and its grossly overcharged as is. This isn't the same as say charging a few dollars more for each 12 pack or 2 Liter

Its a few cents! Its bad for you as well. This in my opinion isn't any worse than say a cigarette tax.

I hardly ever drink soda so this doesn't really effect me but I fail how to see how this is bad. True nobody likes taxes, but soda isn't healthy and if they can lower consumption along with raising money then it's a good idea in my book.

Another point to be raised is that this isn't even the same as a "sin" tax which is designed to lower consumption. This isn't an attempt to stop consumption of soda because otherwise it would be MUCH higher. This is a marginal tax designed to counter some of the negative side effects soda has on society. Sounds pefectly fair to me.

I really dislike the idea that paying fair taxes to help those in this country who need it is "socialism" and "unamerican" Aparently the only way to take back america is to create a unregulated super capitalistic free market hell hole where litting someone die is okay because "i had no obligation to help them"

If paying fair taxes to pay for somebodies health dues or welfareis "unamerican" then call me a traitor and hand me a flag to burn.

Its my rampart Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It makes me change things. I had to change that because the crazy side of me considered it to be "too aggressive" see how messed up I am?

I edited most of my messages alot even going so far as to erase whole paragraphs because "there was something wrong with the way it was spaced" or some other random crap.

Lol a few countries do this already, France for example taxes heavily on "Junk Food" which is a good idea to be honest as its unhealthy and at the same time theres a lower tax on healthy foods.

Britain doesnt use it but in a way the governments only looking out for your own health, and it doesnt make things noticably more expensive, its a way of trying to make you eat more healthily.

[QUOTE="-Sun_Tzu-"][QUOTE="Pirate700"] Yeah he cut taxes for people who already weren't paying any. Jacobistheman

Uhh, payroll tax? Every working individual pays taxes, in some shape or form...

and those on welfare aren't working now are they? The working people are paying the ones who aren't working for not working, it is F***ed up.

If you don't work, you don't get a tax cut. If you do work, you do get a tax cut. It's pretty straight forward.

Yeah, great idea. Lets tax soda because we think people drink too much of it. Thanks for dictating how I live my life even more. Next up would be fast food and red meat. This sounds like something California would do... oh wait, look who is the Speaker of the House (I doubt this crap would pass anyways).cametall
You guys had no problem when the government did it for things like Tobbacco and Alochol.. This argument is hypocritical. No one is stopping you from buying the product.

I don't even know what to think about this other than...come on, really?

Mr_Oblivio

Obesity related illnesses are the biggest killer in the USA. If we can put a tax on tobacco because it's unhealthy, then I don't see anything wrong with taxing soda either.

Obama has his eyes on the greater good with this one.

Soda leads to broken homes, potholes, and drug cheats.

If the US was a more naturally healthy nation, you wouldn't be getting so many cheating baseball players and sprinters rising to the top. At the very least, you could have, say, 30% more competition in sports and therefore more naturally able sportspeople. Some would say that it can go the other way with extra competition -in cycling, for example. But the healthiest nations often take pride in sporting integrity and have less cheats -Sweden and Denmark for example, even Germany. In the US success is best, how you get there doesn't matter as much unfortunately.

Obama for a second term, and taxed soda for all.
