Daddy won't let me buy a ps3. :( (kinda Long Read)

Ok so last week I asked my dad if he could bring me to Best Buy to get a ps3. He said "Okay". He drove me to Best Buy, and I picked up a ps3 from the shelf and brought it over to the counter to purchase it with my hard earned money i saved up from the past year. Right when I'm about to load it on the counter my dad says "No, I think you should wait." Then he picked up the ps3 and placed it back on the shelf and we went home. I'm thinking wtf is going on.

In the car, I asked him why he did that. He didn't respond. So i waited 5 minutes and asked again. Then he said "Your grades are very important now". At the time I had a C in one of my classes. So I asked "If i get rid of that C by next week can I buy a ps3?" He said "Ok"

It's next week now and i removed the C just like I said I would. Today I told him "I got rid of the C, can I buy a ps3 now?" Then he said "No". WTF!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? 10 minutes later I asked him why not, and he said "Because it's too expensive."

Now, if he was buying it for me, I would completely understand why he doesn't want me to have one. But I'M THE ONE WHO'S PAYING FOR IT... And if it's grades that are a problem, I told him that if i got a C again he could take the ps3 away. He still said "No."

How am i supposed to convince him to let me buy one? I know I sound like a whinney brat, but seriously..I'm paying for it..come on now...grrr....:evil:

He's trying to teach you that putting effort into something is pointless, I assume. He promised you that if you lost the C, you could buy the PS3, so when you did imrove your grades, he reneged on his promise. What a brilliant parenting strategy! What a great guy! I really like the part where, JUST as you were loading the PS3 onto the counter, he took it away and put it back on the shelf. That was a nice touch.

Tell him that you're the one paying for everything and that you'll be buying all the games for it. If he still says no, maybe he'll surprise you one day by getting the PS3 for you! Maybe he will cuz he's happy that you got the C off. Time will tell...:)Skargamer

He more then likely has a reason for not letting you. Just wait. Good things happen to good people ;)

You can always take a cab there and buy it. If he's mad at your purchase well good for him. Take him to court or something. (assuming he steals/breaks the ps3)

I hate to break it to you, but as long as you live under dad's roof, it's dad's rules. He pays for the mortgage, pays for your food, clothing, cable, etc. If you don't like that, then move out and pay for all that yourself.UT_Wrestler

I remember when I was younger I would want to buy stuff with my allowance but my mom was always against it. She would say we might need the money for groceries one day.

I hate how parents always call things too expensive, even though I'm the one paying for it with my money, not them.

buy it online, that's what i do since my parent's never drive me anywhere except school or when they arent tired from work which they always are. catch is you have to wait till it comes to the mail, New vegas isnt even in mine yet, its been a day since it came out and a month after i bought it.
