Hey I was just evening up the odds. You did use unemployment as a negative to the US.

Yeah, and the U.S. unemployment rate is at 9.8%. I was more getting at that the U.S. isn't "exceptional", it has just as many problems as many other nations.
redstorm72
Yeah, I should have explained a bit better in my initial post. I just get tired of hearing from some people how America is the promised land of awesomeness and perfection. The U.S. is a great country, but it is by no means perfect. All nations can be improved.
Well there are some countries I wouldn't want to live in.....but there are others where I could adapt. Canada's too cold though...and I'd have to give up my Penguins.:P
I wouldn't mind Canada...
Romania? Heh...too funny I figured you were at least from a good place like the UK or Canada based on your smack. I guess I too be pissed as hell at those evil Americans too if I from Romania.darktx2005
Heh... I'm from Romania too and I work at an American firm.

I can't help but laugh at this. You can't honestly be that arrogant can you? I do know what freedom and liberty are as I live in a nation that is just as free, if not more so, than your nation (Canada). And "exceptionalism"? Really? What is so exceptional about the U.S.?
There is a reason why people are knocking down the doors to come to the US for a college education or to work. There is not another country in the world that provides the same amount of opportunity to it's citizens. All of Europe says "sup".

Think about it this way, it just means more time for skiing and hockey. I love when people from other countries experience their first Canadian winter. What pisses me off about the America bashing more than anything is that if any of countries whose citizens always trash us (Canada, UK etc..) had something bad happen to it (military or a natural disaster), the US would be the first country asked to help. The US would provide that help, even to those allies that we know work with our enemies behind our backs.
Anyways, continue on talking about how horrible of a place this is.

OMG, this thread... The USA is not perfect. It also is not terrible. I know it's really cool to hate the USA these days, and while I do recognize many of its flaws, there are still plenty of good thigns about the USA. It's not a black and white issue ("all good" or "all bad"). Every country has its share of flaws. No country is exempt from that. I like living in the USA. There are lots of good things about the USA. I am not afraid to recognize its flaws either, though. There are a lot of things I also don't like about it, and I disagree with some of its laws and its government a lot of the time. However, my everyday life is rather high-quality. I have no complaints about that. A lot of good things and a lot of bad things have come out of the USA. The same can be said for any other country, even the so-called 'better' countries (UK, Canada, Norway, Belgium, etc.) proclaimed by another poster previously. People who relentlessly hate on the USA are tiresome. People who relentlessly praise and defend the USA out of pure blind patriotism are tiresome. Take some goddamn middle ground, please.t3hrubikscube

TBH, I'm 50% for Wikileaks. Some documents are classified for a reason and should never see public eye; others should be leaked because they expose political lies. The politicians who exploit the American people's ignorance of their government need a slap in the face.
Also, people need to learn the definition of terrorism. It's kinda hilarious so many people misuse the term when it's hammered into our heads daily.
But that would make this thread boring :(poptartYes I suppose I should not be rational and use logic around here!! :(

You seem to value a person of the U.S' life that you don't know more than someone else's from another country You are making a bunch of assumptions aren't you? 1.) I never said that, that was another person. I just simply said that if someone was leaking intel on the internet that lead to lost lives of American soliders or undercover agents, they should be treated as an enemy. That doesn't necessarily mean kill, but the US should do everything it legally can to arrest them and bring them to justice. I'm not sure why that's so bad. I'm not talking about this Wikileak BS. I'm talking about serious intel that threatens and/or leads to American deaths. 2.) Eveyrthing isn't black and white. You refuse to look at the situation in the video in the eyes of those soldiers who were there. Countless people have explained why while tragic, it was not a bloodthirsty killing of civilians like you make it out to be. When you look at the circumstances surrounding it, they did what any soldier of any nation would've done. The fact that you refuse to look at this from that perspective makes debate with you on this point worthless. I'm not sure how this makes me an evil American though? I'm not all for killing civilians. I hate that it happens, but I also don't think that those soldiers should be made out to be murderers. 3.) I never said my country has authority over the entire world. I've never said that and I don't believe that. I do love my country and think it's a great place and I won't change that opinion. If that makes you hate me, then I can't help that.Yeah, I should have explained a bit better in my initial post. You need to also realize that some things are omitted in compiling those statistics depending on country.obviously, and you need to realize that the same is true for every county and mostly every single type of research EVER. Its impossible to take everything into account, there will always be either corruption or flaws.
the question is simply, is it enough to make a point? Or in the case of this thread, should we trust an opinion of a random nationalistic person on a gameing forum, or the only type of facts we have available?
il go with the facts, as long as people keep living in a dream world, they will never fix the problems in their society but rather ignore them.
There is a site that combines all sorts of information based on countries, and combines them into a overall score. Thats where i got the list of countries from. Feel free to research on your own, that is if you prefer facts. Nationalism and Patriotism can only get you as far. Its worth nothing in the real world.
