I was baptised and confirmed as well, and I despise the catholic church.Â

Good for you, I have better things to waste my hate on than a beaten horse.

I was raised southern baptist, church every Wednesday night and twice on Sunday.br0kenrabbit
People go to church twice on Sundays? Did not know that. What is the reason for going twice?
Too many religion threads here......if you have issues TC...talk to someone outside of a forum.LJS9502_basicDon't forget politics

I haven't heard of that either. Once in the morning and one at night?

Sunday school and service in the mornings and then prayer service in the evenings.

What's the difference between the morning and evening services? What's the difference between the morning and evening services?chessmaster1989
Morning services are more of a lecture the pastor has prepared. Evening services were typically weeks-long reading of a particular aspect of whatever (like Pauls missions or marriage and family or whatever) and was more educational than lecturing.
At least at the churches I attended. YMMV.

Evening services were at least informative. Morning and Wednesday services are what the game&watch was for! :P

Not always. :P Often the mornings are more "preaching" and evenings "teaching." While one should not exist without the other within the church setting, many churches approach the services in such a way that the mornings are more "outside friendly" as that is likely when a non-Christian would show up. I am not saying that this is a universal idea or that it is the best idea, just the typical one.[QUOTE="frannkzappa"]Neither does Randian "objectivism". Every idea Ayn Rand published is objectively demonstrable. She did not deal with beliefs, opinions, or hopes. She dealt with facts and reason.[QUOTE="Laihendi"] Wanting/believing something to be true is not relevant to what actually is true. What you are proposing is mysticism, which is a form of subjectivism. It has no bearing on objective reality.Laihendi
whatever you make yourself believe lai...
Ayn Rand did not use a scrap of logic in "Atlus Shrugged" all that book demonstrated was that she was a bad sci fi writer.
Plato's "The Republic" consists of nothing but logical arguments in an interesting format. Plato objectively proved the perfection of the technocratic system and unlike Rand did it in an entertaining way.
Plato trancends time, Rand is beyond obsolete(not to mention wrong).
went to church until i was 18... since i was about 8 i didn't believe any of it.
yes my parents know... because i told them.
logical thinking turned me away.
i think the universe is far more complicated than anyone can even begin to imagine but there is no significance to our lives... perhaps there is something after this life but i think it's very unlikely.
So to all you people that's irreligious, do you believe in something or nothing? Cause if you throw away the idea because of religion than you're not opening up your mind to the concept of 1 and 0. Either everything we know popped out no where = 0 or something created everything = 1.m25105
I hope you aren't serious, but in the case you are...atheism is the position on the concept of god(s). Stating "you are an atheist, therefore you must believe (x)" is nonsense. Nobody states we came from nothing. The answer is "I don't know", instead of fiilling the gaps with magic and bologna

well.. nobody said irreligious people believe everything popped out of nowhere... but how is popping out of nowhere any more ridiculous than everything being created by something? i for one find the idea that "there was nothing and then there was something" just as weird a thought as "there was a creator who has always been who made everything"
in fact i would feel more comfortable siding with the argument there there was nothing and then there was something just because the idea that something could have always existed is mind boggling...
[QUOTE="ghoklebutter"]I didn't like its teachings, nor did I find it to be a true religion.SNIPER4321then what did u find true religion? None of them.
Though I was raised Catholic, my logic and reason eventually kicked in and said there's seriously something wrong with religion and it's all full of shit.
I didn't like its teachings.ghoklebutteryou don't know its teachings. if you do then what are they, teach me :)

poor excuse, but i guess people use any excuse these days, what about me turns you away? Your will to limit others people freedom, your obsessive way of defending anything whatsoever related to islam, and your poor argument skills. Whenever someone provides a good argument your answer is "no you're blind!!". And all this is representative of religion actually.[QUOTE="themajormayor"]And I don't hate either of you for that matter either. You just turn me away from me religionGrayF0X786
Nothing ever turned me away from my religion. All these talks in OT or anywherelse just made me understand and love my religion more which is Islam. All that have been argued around the statements of Quran I have the answer. And things that are argued about Muslims' believes I either find it in Muslims' weakness (and not Islam) or simply an argue with no reasoning to it. The most important tool of a man in my religion is his mind. I never turned away from freely thinking.

and just because some provides an argument that is more closer to your view doesn't make it a good one, i don't actually remember turning around just calling someone blind (for no reason ofcourse)
but still, you are using a poor excuse and it effects me in no way at all, it is nice of you to be a typical religion hater by making one man a representative or a worldwide faith, afterall it is the easy way out for you :)
