There are man flaws in different theories -- evolution is just one of those theories. If you look at intelligent design (for those who do not know, intelligent design is creationism, or in another words god), it's just a theory as well. That's just like saying you can come up with some factual information to as why intelligent design is flawed and hasn't been proven yet; however, that doesn't mean that it is incorrect and should be disgarded. There are so many theories out there and they will be flawed, just like evolution. Not everything has an answer. If everything did, then we wouldn't have to worry about researching, experimenting, developing new ways to see how the world was created, to see how something started out, etc. We would have all the answers in our hands and we wouldn't be debating about this. However, seeing as how everything does not have an answer, some scientists create hypothesis, experimenting them. That hypothesis can be turned into a theory. Just because something has a flaw doesn't mean that it is not correct at all. Look at a horse. How did it get here? Did it or did it not evolve? Did it just come out of nowhere?ayanami_rei

Semantics. Stop being so pedantic.
dunamistheou

The current gravitational model is General Relativity or EinsteinsĀ theory of Gravitation so note that it's not semantics and the usage of the word theory is correct.

The theory of gravity is the current model for how gravity works (fact) according to other strong principles (laws).

I'd like to add that it wouldn't seem so pendantic if people took to reading books with practical information with the same intensity as they do the bible. Otherwise they'd know that Evolution, like Gravity, is a fact.

Some evolutionists are going to come in all stuttery and be like But-but-but-butĀ

seriously there are absolutely no half evolved creatures, which means every single creature in the last X number of years died when it was fully evolved which is impossible. That's like finding a fish with two stubs coming out and a nose on it's face like it was about to evolve but died.

When will people understand that:
Evolution != an attack on religion
Scientific Theory != a hypothesis

Ok, a Scientific Theory is according to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), "A well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that can incorporate facts, laws, inferences, and tested hypotheses." A law is a generalization about nature and no amount of validation changes a theory into a law. The fact of evolution can be seen in things like fossils. According to the NAS a fact is "An observation that has been repeatedly confirmed and for all practical purposes is accepted as 'true.'" Fossils show this and although it was seen indirectly the evidence is still clear. We can't directly see subatomic particles but does that mean they don't exist? No, we use indirect evidence to study them.

For real life observed proof of Evolution look at the Peppered Moth. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peppered_moth_evolution Before the Industrial Revolution they looked like this:
 Ā
Ā
Now this color helped the moth blend in with trees to escape the eye of the birds who hunted them but during the Industrial Revolution, trees started to get covered in soot which actually made the moths more visible to birds. The moths that were born with a darker color could flourish in this environment due the changed color of the trees. As time went on the lighter colored moths began to die out leaving the population mostly dark. Evolution doesn't happen overnight. Now the moths look like this:
 Ā
Ā
That's some cold hard proof. It's a total joke that anyone would deny that species have evolved if you need more proof you can research some of the creatures on the Galapagos Islands. Sometimes Creationalists say "Increasingly scientists doubt the legitimacy of Evolution." Complete bullocks. Go ahead, survey scientists and see what they say. I'd be damned if you find any legitimate scientist who will deny evolution. Then Creationists say "scientists are close minded." Well go ahead and ask a scientific magazine how many articles they get on denying evolution.Ā
Ā
My biology teacher in highschool always said that religion and evolution should not be fighting eachother. You can accept evolution and still be religious. You cannot deny the facts of evolution.

ok, so you have a problem with the idea of life gradually becoming what it is today, but when someone tells you an all powerful deity clicked his fingers and made something as complicated as life just like that, you don't question it in the slightest?

The others are too preposterous to touch, apart from the first. But scientists have been able to create proteins in a lab with simulated lightning which fuses CO2 with vaporized H2O-Karayan-

Didn't they create a distant cousin of RNA using simply matter believed to have been in the Earth's early atmosphere?

got one here. guess were a rare sight though :D over to the topic. what is it that "drives" a living creature? electrical signals (very simplified though). so lets say whe have this bunch of atoms being pretty close to eachother, and they get hit by an electrical charge. they start fusing together (the energy makes em do this). even after this, they got alot of unused energy. they "fuse" with more atoms, which create more reactions, which makes more energy. now the bunch of atoms is so "unstable", that it splits, each of the 2 bunches continue in the same manner. thus, a cell is born. now, surely some of you will debunk it, saying "well, were did the spark come from?". the spark can be tracked back to the big bang, and i hope i dont have to learn you fellas how static electricity works :D

The origin of our species and our universe is beyond our feeble minds ability to comprehend. We're like maggots trying to understand nuclear fission.Ā Believe whatever you choose : The evolutionary theory that we just randomly congealed from nothing, or the religious theory that some Omnipotent being, who's origin is unknown, just plopped us all here. Fact is, it's doesn't matter, and you're probably wrong. But there is no way to tell, so you'd best move on and enjoy your life regardless of how you obtained it.

I wrote more than enough earlier. Just goes to show people only see what they want to see. Anyqay pick up the March 19 Newsweek when you can. Here's a wonderful article. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17542627/site/newsweek/. Oh, and I should also link a website that does a far better job at putting all the creatinist garbage to shame.Ā  http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?chanID=sa003&articleID=000D4FEC-7D5B-1D07-8E49809EC588EEDF&pageNumber=1&catID=2

Creationists have nothing to prove because well there's nothing really there. Look at Intelligent Design. "Well, because humans are so complex ony an intelligent higher being can create us." That's like saying "This math homework is too hard for me so I'm just going to give up and argue that the homework was way too hard to possibly be completed. " That's when your teacher writes a 0 in his gradebook and tells you to sit down and stop playing games on your calculator so you can actually learn something.

By the way. If anybody wants to counter these 10 arguments feel free. But remember, you must respond to them with Factual information (FACTS). Not opinions or theories.

Even Darwin himself (The creator of the theory) found major flaws in his theory.

qwerty2305

Therefore it is impossible to counter the argument, as there are no scientific facts of any kind. All we have are theories with more or less evidence to sustain them. All it takes is one piece of evidence to come along that shatters our entire scientific belief system. Face it, like religion, science is faith, because it is impossible to prove any theory, you can only give evidence for and against it.

No it isn't.Ā  For one, You're implying that evolutionists and atheists know exactly how to do this "math" with no problems at all.Ā  It seems like a good portion of what influences atheist beliefs is how smart it makes them feel when they try to use science to back it up.Ā  The simple truth remains that even if this world is ultra complex, christians and members of the scientific community alike will never be able to fully comprehend or explain it all. Nevertheless, I will always find the notion that everything just formed from nothing completely absurd.

I have another question about evolution.

If species started from one root and then evolved, then how comes we have very discrete species?

I assume you need millions of years for something to evolve to something else, which should mean you should get billions of in-between creatures (This is essential for the tiny probability to build up).

What we notice though is that species are very discrete. We don't have all sorts of uniform level of evolution between humans and apes. Where did all the intermediate levels go? They were supposedly more advanced than apes (although admittedly less than humans).

I never mentioned anything about the intelligence of Christians or anything about atheists so stop putting words in my mouth. I have faith that there's a God. You just assume I am an atheist because I support Evolution and that is exactly what is wrong with many people. You can be religious and still acknowledge Evolution. It doesn't have a vendetta against religion like many of the evangelicals think. All of Evolution is not about debunking God or saying "everything evolved from nothing." Did you not pay attention in Biology? Evolution can be something as little as the moth example I showed awhile back. If creatures didn't evolve how do you think some were capable of existing for so long. Yes I believe that there is a God that created life but that doesn't mean Evolution is non-existent.
Ā
Evolution != No God
Evolution != Vendetta against religion
Ā
I was just trying to explain that saying something is due to intelligent design because you yourself cannot explain it does not mean that it can't be explained. You don't just give up and say it's too complex.

Here are 10 ways to easily debunk Evolution. Remember, this is a theory not a fact. Even in Darwins original book the Theory of Evolution. He wrote a whole page in that book called " Errors with my theory". He wrote down many mistakes that could disprove Evolution. There are also many many videos on Youtube which disprove Evolution.

1. To produce a living thing you must start with a living thing. Evolution requires non-living matter to turn into a living thing and this has NEVER been observed. (This debunks Evolution alone)

2. No mechanism has been put forward that even begins to explain how something like the human eye could have been produced by time, chance and natural selection and mutation.

3. Natural Selection ( better adapted organisms surviving to pass genetic material) cannot produce Evolution because it produces no NEW genetic material.

4. Sir Fred Hoyle, of Cambridge University stated that statistically the chances of one cell evolving was the same as a Tornado passing through a junkyard and giving you a fully functional Jet Plane.

5. According to the theory of Evolution, at some time in the distant past there was no life in the universe -- just elements and chemical compounds. Somehow, these chemicals combined and came life.

6. Scientists dont really know how life came to be. Even Stanley Miller, whose experiments are cited in most bioligy text books says the origin of life is still unkown. The idea that dead material came to life all by itself is not consistent with scientific observation.

7. There are many creatures which defy evolution. Such as the Giraffe and Woodpecker bird.

8. There is no fossil evidence to prove man evolved from ape.

9. Where are the fossils of half evolved dinosaurs and or other creatures?

10. Evolution involves to much chance and coincidence for it to work. This makes it highly unlikely to have happened.

Conclusion:

-Evolution has never been observed. -Evolution violates the 2nd law of thermodynamics. -There are no trandsitional fossils. -The theory of Evolution says life originated, and Evolution proceeds by random chance. -Evolution is only a theory, it has not been proved.

I also have many many more ways to disprove and debunk Evolution.

Ā

qwerty2305

1. It's called the big bang. When it occured (if it did), matter separated and formed the universe. Due to a huge chemical reaction, life came to be (at least on Earth).
2. Yes, it can. It's not likely, but who says it can't happen.
3. Natural selection means that the best mate with the best. As time goes on, a certain organism may have to change to adapt the environment. This has been proven.
4. Although it's a long shot, it still can happen.
5. Through chemical reaction by the big bang, simple cellular life came to be. Unlikely? Yes, but possible.
6. Duh. That's why this is a theory, not a law.
7. How so?
8. Yes there is. From fossils found that depict earlier humans, we can trace back to a common ancestor of the ape.
9. Because of survival of the fittest. You won't see dinosaurs, but you can find lizards everywhere, which are descendants of the dinosaur.
10. Yes, but there is the chance.

Also, don't use the "chance" argument. It's not like the "god" argument is any more likely than evolution.

Ever notice how there's only like a dozen of these presumed neanderthal fossils total?Ā  If it took millions of years for us humans to develop, how come there aren't millions of other similar fossils around the world to support this claim?Ā  Where are all of the missing links' relatives?Ā  Also, since we're playing the game of chance, whatĀ do you believeĀ theĀ odds areĀ that these archeological artifacts could be nothing more than a few mishapen and/or developmentally deformed ape or human skulls?

By the way. If anybody wants to counter these 10 arguments feel free. But remember, you must respond to them with Factual information (FACTS). Not opinions or theories.

Even Darwin himself (The creator of the theory) found major flaws in his theory.

tycoonmike

Therefore it is impossible to counter the argument, as there are no scientific facts of any kind. All we have are theories with more or less evidence to sustain them. All it takes is one piece of evidence to come along that shatters our entire scientific belief system. Face it, like religion, science is faith, because it is impossible to prove any theory, you can only give evidence for and against it.

No Science is based on fact, Religion is based on faith

Have you taken into consideration how rare fossils are? Here's something I got from wiki regarding fossils "Some casual observers have been perplexed by the rarity of transitional fossils within the fossil record. The conventional explanation for this rarity was given by Darwin, who stated that "the extreme imperfection of the geological record," combined with the short duration and narrow geographical range of transitional species, made it unlikely that many such fossils would be found. Simply put, the conditions under which fossilization takes place are quite rare; and it is highly unlikely that any given organism will leave behind a fossil. Eldredge and Gould developed their theory of punctuated Equilibrium in part to explain the pattern of stasis and sudden appearance in the fossil record.

And then consider how small they are and the extent to which you may have to excavate.

Dude, you better hurry up and present your scientifically supported and peer-reviewed findings to the scientific community...they are, apparently, way wrong! I must say, finding out that a prepubescent boy from GS completely disproved a theory widely supported by scientific professionals in biology, archeology, chemistry, microbiology, anthropology, ect. is a bit perplexing and hard to believe, but then again your arguments are completely original and without fault, so what you say must be accepted as 100% fact. I mean, its not like countless religious leaders and evolution skeptics have brought up those exact same points countless times and have been continually debunked by the scientific community... Gosh, man, thanks for completely revolutionizing my life. I owe you a debt of gratitude. Preach your message to the rest of the world, brother, before they buy into this "theory" (which obviously means its completely invalid!! thanks for pointing that out. Im now very suspicious of gravity, however.). These evil scienitists and their quest to explain natual phenomenon, advance mankind, and to better educate the rest of humanity...how dare they. Thanks again.

Your first point is incorrect. Reading stops there. The theory of evolution doesn't require inanimate matter to come to life.

Yea I've heard a lot regargind this theres only one point I don't agree with. It has been dtermined that life (genetic strings and a body) could come together. It is possible for it to randomly happen. The odds are worse than you could conceive, but still. Ok here's where my own theory comes into play. IF the universe is infinite (temporaly speaking). Then there could be infinite chances for this production of life to occur. My theory doesn't explain evolution and I don't support it. I'm just throwing it out there. I think it's also important to note that mutations are possible and do occur and the theory of natural selection could probably occur as a result, it's just very unlikely.

I still believe it, beats a book that says the world started 6000 years ago even though dinosaurs millions of years old have been found.Bourbons3
So, you areĀ choosing evolution overĀ creationism because you find it be lesser of two evils...? Whatever. If you want to settle, I suppose that is your choose to be making.

Personally, for my own belief system,Ā I do not claim to be expert on either of the fields, however, what I doĀ know is that I am not really satisfied with either of those theories and therefore, believe in neither. For my personal being, I find it best to keep my options open as much as I possibly can.

Also, with that being said, I do not see why majority of you folks feelĀ need to be one or another, whether it believer in evolutionĀ or creationism...?Ā I mean,Ā why is that each of theories have be exclusiveĀ from each other? What about combination theory? Or, for that matter, what is wrongĀ with exploring other theories beyond these two?

I can understand if some of you folks have passion for your believes, along withĀ feel as if they are fact, however, to state things along the lines ofĀ "your idiot if you do not believe *insert* theory" is silly. There is good and logicalĀ reason they call them theories, so please, treat them as such and if nothing else, respecting belief system of other people.

Furthermore, I wish more people wouldĀ realize regardless ofĀ their belief, there are flaws in all of the theories (most certainly not something is exclusive to any particular theory), so quit acting as if, some how, your belief system is "better" than the rest - instead - the only difference is that its exactly that, different - until "proven" to be otherwise, yourĀ belief isĀ not really any "better" or "worse" than rest of theories out there.

However, with that being said, this message isĀ nothing more than unrealistic idealogical thinking at best, so, with that being ---Ā never mind. Simply want to get those feeling out and in the open.

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  This is rediculous,Ā  buddy you do knowĀ this doesn't disprove anything what so ever.. It merely shows that we do not haveĀ enough evidence as of yet toĀ prove if it is factual or not...

Ā Ā Ā  Clear example of this is GRAVITY..Ā Ā At this time Neuton's idea of gravity as it stands due to our observations are false.. That we can only detect at best 30% of the mass needed in the universe to keep galaxies together..Ā Ā WE DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT 70% of the universe is made up of, yet we still use it..Ā  Because its the best case scenerio out there, if you can come up with a better idea that can actually be provenĀ with more evidence then evolution be my guess, because as it stands evolution is the most realistic idea out there...

Ā Ā  Not just that buddy but our universe alone shows that probability is everything.. With our galxy alone holding billions of stars who knows how many planets going around themĀ no matter howĀ slim chances are it is possible.. Not just that but there is a estimated 300+ BILLIOn galaxies out there.. So you do the math..Ā Ā Most people should accept the most logical explaination, and as it stands Evolution should be it.. It has billions of pieces of evidence, if scientists had the pathetic path of believing their theories as actuality withĀ as little amount of evidence as religion, then they would have trumped any form of creationism long ago..Ā Ā  But they care more for actuality then being right, far more scientists in history have admited their mistakes only to make more superior theories..Ā

Ā Ā  WE CAN'T get to the point that we know half as much we would like to know about weather that effects our planet to this day..Ā

Whats wrong here is that in your mind you're taking two contemporary creatures and saying one is going to evolve into the other. In actuality they would have both had a common ancestor. Take the whale, at one point it was a legged land mammal and that's why whales of today have vestigal legs.

Evolution is not a set path where all creatures given enough time evolve into humans either.

Yet,Ā people believe inĀ a book that states that there were no dinosaurs and the world was made in a week....

Any proof there? No.

Krendog

Um you're an idiot. We never said that we don't believe that their were dinousaurs. Get all your dang facts straight. And don't be such an ignorant.....

How can I get any facts straight when the're not even there to begin with? The Bible says God created animals, man and everything in the universe in a week. Where as science says that dinosaurs lived about 60 000 000 years before any human being did. Just agreeing that dinosaurs existed kinda debunks the idea of creationism. I wasn't attacking Christianity you {insert foul name here} (but I am now  ), Im just saying that there is no concrete proof that either one is right but people believe in what they want.

PS: I think of myself as a very open-minded person :D
