Did your parents spank you as a child?

Mine did, but I have to say I probably deserved it. Some people say you shouldn't do it at all, but I think as a parent sometimes you can only have so much patience even though there are CERTAINLY limits as to how far you can go... If you don't believe in spanking a child, sometimes I have to wonder what you can use as punishment / discipline for kids

No worse neglected, but I don't complain.

Not often, only when i had really screwed up bad :( and even then it wasnt hard or anything

My parents did, usually with the belt, but in a couple of occasions my dad would slap me, and this sucked because chemicals ruined his hand and made it all rough and flaky. So not only did he hit me, he scratched me too! :o

I don't think they ever did. I would say that I turned out pretty well without it.

Yes anytime I did something wrong, I can still remember the belt that I was "spanked" with....

Hardly ever because I was scared of getting spanked when I was smaller...when I got older (around 10-12) I was of course getting more bratty like all kids and when I said something bad to my parents or screwed up in some way I'd get a slap to the face.

I think I deserved it and its a good way of discipline...but of course you shouldn't overdo it.

edit: Just look at todays kids aroun the ages of 8-13...they are huge brats and have no respect...I think parents don't spank/beat their kids enough anymore these days. With "beating" I of course don't mean opening a can of whoop-ass on them, but a slap here and there really could help.

Yep. It was just my dad though. My mom tried to a couple times, and I think I laughed... she didnt like that, but she also didnt like spanking me, so it worked out...

Yes, I deserved it most of the time, I will beat my kids for sure. Although I do feel I was unfairly beaten a few times when my Dad quit smoking.

They never spanked me. I never did anything wrong and i think that helped me a lot when i got older. 99% of kids now don't know when to keep their mouths shut and just do what they are told to stop confrontation. I learned it at an early age.
