The news channels in the USA air the stupidest stories. Right now on MSNBC they have a "Breaking News Story" of a house on fire in Oregon. As if Americans have never seen a building on fire...

The people running for president are complete imbeciles who have no solutions to real problems.

The U.S. dollar is being inflated to the point of bankruptcy...

Our current president is a wimp and never talks about what's important, but instead focuses on more B.S.

I would have to imagine that even Canada is now laughing at the U.S.

I hate politics, we need smart people in government, not politicians.

Yes, i think there are some videos of the internet iterviewing average americans, there so funny. One question was name a country beginning with U. Most of them didnt have a clue, a few said stuff like utah and barely anyone actually realised that USA is an obvious answer. XD Obviously that video is probably a bit biased but oh well, its funny.

What does fiat money have to do with anything? You know the yen, pound, and euro are up there with the dollar in the strong category. They're all "theoretical" and all considered the most solid currency on the planet.

And you typed in "dollar." I didn't know the pound was called the "pound dollar" or "yen dollar."

American health care is different. It has it's problems just like any other system. As soon as there is a perfect system available, everyone will support it. I find it hard to believe that the same party to points out the lack of WMDs in Iraq when the talk about our INTELLIGENCE groups has somehow created a fantasy world where the government can improve healthcare.

Let's face the facts that our government is borderline incompetent (i'm not saying which side of the border they are on) and stop this movement of piling more facets of our lives into our governments hands just so that we can feel vindicated when we go on a rant about how horrible our government is.

There is a feeling in Britain that America is a very scary joke. Healthcare, guns and fundamentalists are the more common focuses. I think the clear majority of people in this country would agree that an NHS is absolutely indespensible, and that it is inexcusable for a developed country not to have one.

Ah, the USA is no worse and probably better than a lot of other countries. We just bear the brunt of criticism because of our place on the world stage. We're the obvious target.

Sure, our healthare is bad. At least we have it though. And yes, our politicians and government is messed up. But at least we don't change our type of government every week and fistfights don't break out in congress. Our dollar could be doing better but it still commands respect and is not as worthless as many others. And yes, we follow ridiculous news stories and media is biased but at least there is freedom to do so.

The United States has been through tough times before and always bounced back. How many times in history do you think people have thought the end was near? But the US is resilient. That is very much what defines our culture, despite how diluted it has become over the intervening decades.

Many citizens of America seem to take pleasure in bashing their country. And they have the right to do so. But for all that these people berate the country they live in I doubt any of them would rather live someplace else.

/end rant

I don't know... I see it that the fact that America is so open to what we like to do, other countries see's it as a joke or weird. For instance, healthcare, food, education, jobs and how people run their lives. A lot of people from India see us as disgusting because of the way we have sex, where other countries find it insulting. We see sex differently and use it to our advantage. I'm not proud by saying this, but I think we're not that smart in the education area. Most other countries are smarter then us, and knows their history a lot better then we do. Then we have (no offense) trailer trash, ghetto and smuts. I'm not saying that trailer trash is a bad lifestyle, I mean people choose to live that life or have no other alternative.

Despite all these negative aspects, we do have one of the best free flowing countries in the world. We eat better, a lot of us live better or live in better areas, have tons of resources available to us in a wink of an eye. So I sometimes see it where we're not just laughed at, but we are heavily envied in a lot of things we have.

I hope that makes sense.

Agreed, seeing how we have things here, I wouldn't want to move somewhere else where things are most likely not available. I don't bash our country, but I do bash how the gov't are running things with the president, because our situation is getting very hard to handle as far as economy and life issues.

Why don't you like our healthcare? And yes guns are a problem in the UK, but not as big a problem as in the US. Again I have no reason to laugh at the US as a whole, I just laugh at a few of the less intelligent individuals.

I don't believe in waiting lists for healthcare. The US gun problem is actually not that big. It's only the major stories you hear make you believe it to be so....but it's not.

[QUOTE="Junkie_man"]There is a feeling in Britain that America is a very scary joke. Healthcare, guns and fundamentalists are the more common focuses. I think the clear majority of people in this country would agree that an NHS is absolutely indespensible, and that it is inexcusable for a developed country not to have one.Junkie_man

I don't lke your healthcare....guns are a problem in the UK.....fundies are a minority. None of that is a valid reason. But if it makes you feel better about yourselves....:|

I didn't say I agreed with it (not saying that I don't either), Just that the feeling existed. And gun victims per 100,000 in America = 4, in Britain = 0.15. and I definitely don't want to get ill in your country.

Of course not. You'd be treated quickly....can't have that.:o

It's not like private healthcare disappears overnight.
