This girl I was dating broke up with me because I played video games.
You know what I say? Screw her.
If all you do is play video games all day even when she visits you or is with you then I think I wouldn't blame them. A man must know how to balance video games and girlfriend or women in general. Women tend to get ''jealous'' from videogames.
I think a lot of girls still have this mind set that video games are for kids, because they were mainly for kids when they were growing up.
But I also think It's a bit of a cop out. I think what TYPE of girl you're talking about is the reason. Some girls just can't deal with the concept that a guy has a hobby or interest that doesn't involve them. Be it video games, sports, card games, or whatever.
My roommate simply cannot play video games (or card games or board games, which we commonly play when we have friends over) when his girlfriend is around. Not because she nags or complains. But the second he tries to sit down and play she always tries to draw his focus to her, I don't even think shes aware of the fact that she does it. But it basically kills any enjoyment he gets out of the game.
my gf games with me on gears halo we raid on WoW. get owned ;)

As a female gamer, what can turn female gamers off is a variety of things. The biggest is making video game females unrealistically "hot" wearing little or no clothes, and be expected to save the world with no clothes on. This is not how the majority of us operate. I would prefer keeping my clothes on if I have to save the world.
In general, it's just how video game developers portay female characters. Lara Croft is a perfect example. Originally, I don't think she was supposed to be a sex symbol, but now she is. It's part of the reason why I don't play the Tomb Raider games. Plus, many female characters leave an impression on horny male gamers that we are objects to be stared at and bombarded with sex requests. It's no wonder why more females don't play online games such as Call of Duty. Even when I play Demon's Souls online I'm always mistaken as a male. I really see this as a form of brainwashing behavior for western world male gamers.
Why not make games that targets everyone (such as Pokemon) and doesn't place an emphasis on one or the other? Even Skyrim is guilty of this, making all the marriageable female NPCs "hot" while all the marriageable male NPCs are "ugly." At least give me the option to marry any Skyrim male I want. I'd totally go after Quaranir then.
anything that distracts you from them is a turn-off. but if a girl actually likes video games, then it can be a turn-on. dont game and just ignore them, thats the key.
True I know plenty of hot chicks who play cod... its a shame I don't play...Nowadays girls love playing Call of Duty, ao if you only play Call of Duty, then it's all good.

Tell that to all the discussions I have seen on the gamefaqs Skyrim forums over the past few months. How much talk on how good a female NPC looks, especially with Aela, Jenassa, Mjoll, or hell, even Lydia? How much talk of playing as a female character just because they "look good?" Not to mention, all the sexual innuendo I see on their posts. I don't play female characters because I want to stare at them and have imagination sex with them; I play a female character because I am a female and therefore can relate to a female character.
To me, male gamers sink real low to imagine having sex with pixels and therefore an illusion.

Then your problem is with the people on gamefaqs not the devs of skyrim...As a female gamer, what can turn female gamers off is a variety of things. I know. I was just playing up the drama of the moment. If there wasn't a trophy to marry in Skyrim, I probably wouldn't have.
Actually i would because that's free money.
mrmusicman247And free house sylgja of shor's stone has a huge house...
Depends on the woman dude. There are some girls who like skinny guys and hate buff guys, some who love buff guys and can't stand fat guys, and chubby chasers who love the fatties. Same goes for personality.
Its a good thing I'm athletic, yet slim with a fat person past, and also happen to have the personality of a bad boy with a sensitive heart of gold and a love of science, sports and everything ever that a girl could like.
Anyways, as far as I'm concerned, most woman wouldn't have that problem. Gaming is just another form of entertainment, if a woman is turned off by a guy who games, its as dumb as being turned off by a guy who watches movies or reads books.
My past two gf hated it. The first I lived with and played around her and when we fought she'd always try to break my games or console or hide my controllers from me. The 2nd I never once played around but she always referred to me as a "boy" when she seen my headset or games laying out and when we broke up she said she needed a man who did'nt play with kid games. Ouch. My experience with girls and video games has been bad. I need a gamer girl!!

I feel the same way, I can't even bring myself to play games that are male lead only anymore, it's hard to relate to a male lead when you aren't a male. If I can't play as female - and I don't care for the rare multi-player and co-op that might, maybe, allow for that option - also very rare - in single player then I'm not going to waste my month nor time with such a generic game. And it's annoying how females in games are portrayed as sex toys, the damsel in distress, the useless support role, the victim and the NPC background character and once in a while the villain while the usual un-creative boring male lead is being forced yet again. The industry, as well as many male gamers who keep demanding male lead only, really need to grow up and allow for progress for a change instead of holding progress back and doing the same tired thing over and over again. Yet if you suggest such a thing you get seen as 'sexist' and 'feminist' by those who don't even understand the meaning, and I'm not either of those, I'm just sick to death of seeing the same lack of imagination all the time with the whole 'be a man, man only!' nonsense that is still being enforced. That's what tends to be turn me off.

That's what tends to be turn me off.Well I do think that the media in general also makes guys look a bit ridiculously handsome and capable compared to the real deal for the most part, but I think the issue of games and comics and such portraying women as sex objects is changing. Now its really only used in more comedic games or games focused on a less realistic vibe (like Duke Nukem, and to a lesser extent, Batman).
Though I wouldn't stereotype all male gamers as being disrespectful misogynists, and I'd say that women tend to be portrayed incredibly favorably in many games like Gears of War, Rainbow Six and Mass Effect, and that if a few loudmouthed lonely teenagers online want to make a big deal of an attractive portrayal of a girl in gaming on internet forums, people shouldn't make a fuss about it. For the most part, many games are alllowing you to play from a variety of different people of different backgrounds, races and gender, and so people don't have to get so worked up over a dying trend that only a select vocal few support online.
As a female gamer I don't mind male gamers...I dislike it when they think that because I'm a gamer I automatically want to play games with them as a couple. I tend to prefer RPG's so have no interest in doing that as a couple...clingy male gamers are a turn off...
It probably is for some, but more so because of the time "wasted" rather than because of it being video games itself.
I like to play video games, so personally I see it as more of a turn-on being a common interest and all, if anything. So long as the the guy isn't super obsessed, playing hours and hours on a daily basis.
girl don't look at dating as casual as we do,they usually have plans deep down on their minds although they might deny it.
