Not me. Miracles are supposed to be acts of God, aren't they? So why does He pick and chose who recieves miracles and who doesn't? I may not be able to explain certain "miracles" scientifically, but I do know just from the sheer fact that a "loving father" wouldn't be so incosiderate to show favoritism that miracles just don't exist. As for anyone who says, "God works in mysterious ways," I've also viewed that line to be nothing more than a cop out that says, "I have no idea how to explain what just happened".

Everything can have a rational explanation. When something is difficult to explain some people just take the easy way out and attribute it to the act of a divine being. No one ever talks about those people who prayed and their prayers weren't answered... only those who prayed and had their wish fulfilled.

I remember when I was learning to ride a bike when I was a kid. I kept trying for hours, then I prayed, and somehow I knew how to ride. Weird. Must be a coincidence? Not religious anymore.

As an atheist, I'd feel like a hypocrite because "miracle" implies divine intervention.

I believe in miracles in a non-religious sense, you could really just call it extremely good luck..But yes I do, There have been times when I could've easily died, or been hurt Physically or Emotionally yet something happened that saved me from that situation.

There is still no concrete evidence that suggests they even exist, just anecdotal evidence and poor-quality photographs and videos.

Well of course they didn't appear randomly... they were formed over millions upon millions of years of selective processes that allowed less complicated beings to survive and adapt to ever-changing environments.

Being religious, of course at some level. Miracles are God stepping in and something unnatural or against most odds happening right? So anytime God interacts with the world in some way it's a miracle. Therefor, if you believe some kind of deity exists that has anything to do with this world then you believe in miracles of some form or another.

Does being human and having a skeleton and complex circulatory system have anything to do with miracles? Are we not supposed to have complex circulatory systems?

No. It's not random either. It's the way life has been for millions of years.

I don't believe that God directly circumvents the very laws of nature that he would have put in place just to help some random guy, no.

I find even less likely the idea that God does so because you asked him to do so, as well.

i wasnt replying to the post about miracles i was talking to the atheist poster, and humans have been traced back to 1.6 million years ago out of 4.6 billion years f earth. And scientfically there arent really possible ways we could just get the perfectly functioning bodys by a couple of cells forming together so there has to be some other way.

You know what kind of miracle I wanna see? I wanna see an amputee growing a missing limb. That would blow my mind.

-or-

Even better, have someone pull the key out of an active grenade, then hold it close to his chest, explode, then walk away unscathed.

I saw a woman get healed at a conference I went to. She had a problem in one of her legs, causing it to be about 2-3 inches shorter than the other. This guy started praying for her and it grew to the size of the other leg in about 30 seconds. If that's not a miracle, I dont know what is. You dont have to believe me, quite frankly I dont care if you dont.

I've never experienced anything supernatural in my life. I'd definitely like to "see a ghost" and am patiently waiting for it to happen. While I wait I will continue to look for more concrete evidence that actually proves something.

Most "ghosts" can be attributed to light doing funny things with your eyes when it's dark. Our eyes are easily fooled, that's why there are so many different kinds of optical illusions that do funny things.

But our bodies are not "perfectly functioning." People can still die from simple bacterial infections and viruses.

If you actually took time to learn about the formation and history of the planet Earth and the life on it, you would be able to fully understand how our current bodies came to be.

Another thing, as well, is the effect of already believing that something exists. If that's the case, your brain will automatically mold what you see to fit in with that belief. Another person who does not believe it exists will very likely have a completely different reaction to the same stimuli. It's very often a self-fulfilling prophecy in that way.

In the sense that nobody can build a human from scratch, yes, nobody knows exactly how it was created... but the fossil record is so incredibly massive by now that we can basically trace our exact lineage and formation almost all the way back to where things began.

Maybe it was just her time? Taegukki

It was probably that either she (or those around her) didn't pray hard enough and/or her (and those around her) faith in God wasn't as absolute as it could have been.

[QUOTE="FPSunionOWNS"]what do you mean i thought nobody knows how the human body was created.GabuEx

In the sense that nobody can build a human from scratch, yes, nobody knows exactly how it was created... but the fossil record is so incredibly massive by now that we can basically trace our exact lineage and formation almost all the way back to where things began.

We can also use mitochondrial DNA to tell how closely related we are to a species we found in the fossil record. Mmmm, science.

Well in that case then it must be an awful lot of people's time, given that the majority of people who are dying probably have folks praying for them.

That's actually one of my biggest pet peeves about miracles. If someone lives, it's proof that God performed a miracle. If someone dies, well, then it was just that person's time and the death was all part of God's plan. If it's quite literally impossible for an observation not to validate what one believes, it might be time to re-evaluate things.

[QUOTE="FPSunionOWNS"][QUOTE="Shad0ki11"][QUOTE="FPSunionOWNS"][QUOTE="Shad0ki11"]

[QUOTE="FPSunionOWNS"]theres obviously some kind of greater being because how the hell did humans with complex circulatory and skeletal systems appear randomly.Shad0ki11

Does being human and having a skeleton and complex circulatory system have anything to do with miracles? Are we not supposed to have complex circulatory systems?

No. It's not random either. It's the way life has been for millions of years.

i wasnt replying to the post about miracles i was talking to the atheist poster, and humans have been traced back to 1.6 million years ago out of 4.6 billion years f earth. And scientfically there arent really possible ways we could just get the perfectly functioning bodys by a couple of cells forming together so there has to be some other way.

Believing in ghosts is believing in the occult. If you are a devout Christian, you are shooting yourself in the foot. :P

i dont believe really in god more like a greater being thats from another galaxy. but then ghosts and stuff come in and im like wtf. so im confused.

Same thing and I explained ghosts to you.

yes but i on the other hand had several supernatural expireriences.
