[QUOTE="Hoobinator"]

It also hints at financial turmoil, Babylon the great prostitute that sits on many waters will rise up and become the dominant economic, military and cultural empire in the world. It will rule over huge swathes of the world and wage war with whoever it wants. It will fight in the Middle East and against religious people it hates. All nations of the world trade with it, and it thinks of itself as indestructible and completely safe, far away from most other nations. This nation will be completely destroyed.

Also there will also be famines.

There will be earthquakes.

There will be widespread adultery and fornication, propagated by Babylon the prostitute nation.

Take that at whatever value you want.

omfg_its_dally

Where exactly is Babylon?

Well you see the Bible uses the word "Babylon" in multiple ways. There is the old Babylon, an old empire that was destroyed in the nowadays Middle East. And then there is "Babylon the prostitute, the Bible uses this word to demarcate between the old, destroyed Babylon and the new Babylon, obviously since the old Babylon hasn't been around for even before the New Testament was written. But Babylon is also the name of the City that lies within greater Babylon. Why is the term Babylon used, because new Babylon will be like old Babylon, warlike and anti-God, even though it does not understand it.

Revelations 17:18

Everything that I've written can be found in Revelations, Isaiah and Jeremiah of the Bible.

Again take it as you will.

[QUOTE="WiseCynic"]1. The Bible is not that accurate.
2. Humans fighting with one another is not indicative of anything. It's been happening for a long, long time.4seal

Thank you for offering no proof and ignoring all the posts made.

I was responding to the original post with a cursory commentary on the TC's opinion. It was not my intention to provide proof, seeing as interpretation is completely subjective.

Also, the burden of proof rests squarely on the believer (the person making the claim).

Btw, those predictions mean somewhat nothing. It doesn't say these things will happen during this time. It just says they will happen. Given enough time, anything can happen. Its just that today with the internet and all we can see problems all accross the world, well long ago it took quite awhile for news to travel, or not reach everyone.

Just a question? If you were shown the Ark of the Covenant and all the contents that it hides, would you believe?

There is already a "1 currency system" in the EU called the Euro. Again, where is Jesus?

There is the inherent problem that the vaguer the prophecy the broader the potential interpretations. For example, "Feared nation with people who are tall and have smooth skin" is about as vague as you can get. It is certainly vague enough that, given enough time, a nation like that was bound to show up. Especially given the subjectiveness of traits like "tall and smooth-skinned."Qooroo
Uhh... wha? The Bible does have a few prophecies that are hard to figure out and could be vague but many are not...

Can you provide examples? Cause there haven't been any in this thread...

Several were mentioned but honestly, future prophesy is the area of theology I most lack. I can talk about most other things related to the Bible but this is the area I know least about.

Easiest way is to click Quick Quote or Quote under what you are wanting to Quote. There are other ways but you can figure it out after seeing the code.

To my knowledge, the Bible claims nothing more than to be given from the inspiration of God. Getting from that to 'The Bible is the word of God' is a bit of a leap.

Not really... Ever read John chapter 1 for example? Places throughout scripture it speaks of God's Word and living by it.

Bible or no Bible, Christian or not Christian...the world WILL end, sure enough by the sun when it dies, but that is eons in the future, but close than that is global warming which could have us wearing oxygen masks and space suits soon thanks to a future lack of oxygen. But If u are taking Bible profecies, then yes the end is just around the corner, horrible disasters...check...the bigger and stronger hurricanes/earthquakes not including the massive super quake that is supposed to wipe out the west coast of north america...that is assured to come by scientists. The destruction of Israel, its rebuilt into a nation and soon the construction of the temple (plans already in place to build it on the same place that muslim temple is on, see how that is going to happen) Also the bible mentions that the big amount of jews will die three times, once by the romans when jerusalem was destroyed, another in the holocaust and soon a third time maybe nuclear weapon by iran or another massive persecution. One world order, first the european union and now the north american union...followed by the asian union to all come into one governement. the beast number thing is the micro chips that ARE being used today by ALOT of peps...it is said that the gov will have the option to "kill" the chip if they want to which would literaly kill you...talk about total control! well if u don't really belive and no one is making you, just watch the news...peace talks between israel and its enemies, great man making peaces around the world, dramatic weather changes....and the contruction of the temple. It will either happen or not and if it does well...I told you so...but by then it will too late.

Not really... Ever read John chapter 1 for example? Places throughout scripture it speaks of God's Word and living by it.

John 1:1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

These are the only instances of the word 'word' appearing in James 1 in the KJV (which I picked mostly to avoid a KJO-based counterargument) and they make it pretty clear that God's Word is Christ, rather than the Bible.

2 Timothy 3:16 states, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness."

Joshua 1:8 also states, "Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." That's not saying you'll be rich and whatnot by doing so btw. The biblical view of prosperity and success is a little different than that.

Proverbs 30:5 also says, "Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him."

I find King James only people odd... sorry if there are any out there... I personally like ESV the most for study though I often us NIV when mentioning scripture to others.
