A friend of mine thought that same thing once. After years of knowing him, I finally got him to go to Church with me. He was just fine :)
You're not one of those people that always push 'The Lord' on others, are you?

Nah - he actually was the one to first bring it up. He just noticed the way I live my life. By not swearing, not smoking, not drinking, not going to clubs, helping other as best I can, etc. After months of knowing him (he served time for a crime), he started asking me questions. I invited him to Church after awhile. He declined laughing, telling me he would probably burn for all the bad things he has done. I just let him know that wouldn't be the case, but it's his choice. He's always welcome if he ever changes his mind. Much later he asked me more questions about my belief in God. I answered his questions and was hesitant to ask him again. Later, I felt a strong urge to just ask, so I invited him a second time after years of knowing him. To my surprise, he said yes and let me know it would be my responsibility to bury him if he burned as soon as he walked through the doors. We went to Church and wouldn't you know it, he never burned.
Note that this is just a very long story made as short as I could. The main point being I was just being a friend and setting an example. He was the one who would start a conversation about God.
