I have nothing in common with the rest of my family so I don't particularly enjoy seeing them. They're all conservative christian and I'm the black sheep.

[QUOTE="ghoklebutter"]

lol I worded that poorly sorry

I mean when the male relatives sit in one place and the female relatives sit somewhere else. That stuff annoys me. But our family is pretty strong. =]

ghoklebutter

Why does that "annoy" you?

Because I think that sex segregation is silly and there's no need for it. I'm from a very conservative Muslim family, FYI.

a big player lol, Malcolm X did not believe in racial supremacy, in one point of his life he probably did, but a few months before his assassination, he made a drastic change in his life, you obviously want to talk the complete opposite about someone, its like going around pissing on everyones food for no reason at all, its such a shame people here love you.

With big player I meant a big name in NOI history; IE not a surprise you heard about him through a documentary about them. I don't think much good things about MX though, but I'm never one to knowingly spread a wrong image about people. Shame you really don't know me.

I could tell :P Tradition is a very strong cohesive for a family. The strongest and most enduring one, in fact. You shouldn't be so annoyed by it if you care about your relatives.

The separation is just as silly and unnecessary. There's nothing wrong with genders mixing. But we'll have to agree to disagree.

I can care about my relatives without agreeing with all of their traditions. I'm not a douche about it - I mean, I don't yell at them for adhering to traditions I agree with and stuff - but I wish they would stop. That's unlikely, though.

I hate it for a variety of reasons such as that everyone is yelling (not in a negative way, they just talk loud) at the top of their lungs and we don't speak the same language.

It's bearable when hanging out with cousins and "cool" uncles or aunts especially if there's something we can do. Our family gatherings are always away from home or at my uncle's and aunt's house with a large swimming pool. The last part sounds glamourous but the place is cheap, poorly mantained, and the house isn't anything special. I don't mean to brag it's a very bland house. The only thing nice about it is the pool.

For the last 10+ years family gatherings for me just end up meaning my grandparents, parents, sister and occasionally one of my uncles. So no, I really don't hate them. If the rest of the family is involved, I'll just excuse myself. :P
