I'm always a bit sceptical about chemical mood alteration. I guess I'm from an old school that believes that if you're miserable, it's the life situation that needs sorting out instead of using chemicals to cheer you up. I've seen pill-heads who are out caning it every weekend, and the long term results just seem to be apathy and ever deepening depression. jimmyjammer69
As with alcohol...using a substance to alter a mood doesn't solve the problem. It's still there and in fact, not solving the problem can lead to bigger problems. Particularly if an addiction develops.

Well luckily LSD and psilocybin, the main hallucinogens focused on in studies like the one i mentioned, are not addictive.

Personally, I support full legalization of marijuana, not just medical use. Just treat it the same way you do alcohol.

pis3rch

Even if you currently don't support medical use, you HAVE to admit that there is medical potential that we should definitely look into. One study found that THC attacked brain cancer cells without harming healthy brain cells. Do you realize how much potential this compound could have? I'm not saying that marijuana cures cancer just based on this one study, but you have to admit that medical marijuana deserves some attention.

Yes I knew that. It also relieves pressure on the eyes of Glaucoma patients and helps Aids patients keep their appetite up so they can keep their weight on. I read a lot on marijuana.

Marijuana would be legal if the government hadn't have lied and said it turns you into a serial killer... then said it makes you addicted to heroin, to make it legal they would be admitting that they made up ridiculous lies etc. and theres no way they'll ever do that.

Every study on the subject has stated it as such. There is a levelling off of the effect of the high. Some people are quite content to remain that way. However, others seek more of a high again and thus the marijuana became a gateway to the effects of drugs for them. If you studied psychology you SHOULD have touched on this.LJS9502_basic

Just wanted to say that in my local drug market, from what i've heard, experimentation and care is highly encouraged, So don't you think this is a problem that could be eliminated with education on the subject? People who are in contact with drugs daily could already have gained and shared that knowledge, right?

GOD, do i love wikipedia. Wikipedia sez:
LSD is not considered addictive, in that its users do not exhibit the medical community's commonly accepted definitions of addiction and physical dependence. Rapid tolerance build-up prevents regular use, and there is cross-tolerance shown between LSD, mescaline and psilocybin. This tolerance diminishes after a few days without use and is probably caused by downregulation of 5-HT2A receptors in the brain.wikipedia
Just for the uninformed. Read it for greater understanding of the drug.

SIMPLE QUESTION - HAVE YOU TRIED LSD???

if you havent then you really can't comment.

The legalisation of all drugs wouldprobably be benificial (to the vast majority anyway). £/$ 100's Billionswould be made in tax.

This would in turn put criminals out of business, both back street dealers and gang land drug lords. It would also help 3rd world countries as they produce the goods which would equate in a stable economy.

As i've said, people suffer from drug use, however this extra revenue could be used in treatments or research - the neatherlands seem to have it sussed if you ask me.

when'd they say it makes you a serial killer? and it doesn't directly make you addicted to heroin, it's a gateway drug. many people who do hard drugs like heroin started with weed.

I did LSD (Acid) when I was a kid, but I wasn't addicted to it. I only did it a few times. Wasn't really my thing.

God, learn to quote, damnit. have you done it? Have you experienced some type of addiction, either physical or psychological? If you have, then something is out of the norm for you. Also, no i have not tried LSd, but wouldn't deny the offer, and i speak from encounters with prettyknowledgeable people.

What... hmm. I've actually already said that i never took the drug. However, i've gone out of my way to learn more and more about the drug, both from people who had eperienced it, and from people who dedicated to it's study.

I mean, how else coud i be sure of my knowledge about it and one day, if somehow i come in contact with the drug, know what to expect and be able to enjoy it while controling the risks?

You're the one avoiding everything that has been said. What is your thought on the wikipedia link i've presented? What about other people's first hand experience? What do you have to say to the comment i've made that you just are weak minded?

have you ever seen Reefer madness? i dont know much about the production of the film but it was used to show how marijuana makesyou turn into a psychopathic serial killer. the governments stance on the matter is no different from what it was when that movie came out.

The government isn't so naive as you think. Just because Reefer Madness was a stupid propaganda movie, that doesn't mean that all of the arguments against originate from the government.

i take it you dont see the extremely naive anti-marijuana adds the government feels a need to put on my tv screen every four seconds stating how marijuana is equivalent to being kicked in the shin by a horse, or how if you smoke marijuana you will steal from your sister.

the funny thing about this thread is that the studies that i've read about aren't from smoking marijuana, but rather from throat lozenges that the government has been using to help some the symptoms that the Swine Flu causes. to smoke while you have the flu is just not intelligent. sorry if this thread is already dead, but i didn't have time over the weekend to write any more than i did way back in the beginning of the thread.

No offence, but this only makes sense if you are a pothead or plain ignorant
