I'm not opposed to the idea of the genre itself...but for some reason it seems like most of the movies that get made for that genre are crap, IMO. That said, my favorite would probably have to be In the Mouth of Madness.
Generally speaking no. I don't like being scared especially by cheap scares. Occasionally I'll watch a scary movie but its more of the thriller variety and not pure horror. I prefer to enjoy my movie watching experiences.

Horror movies are awesome, but I don't really watch them to get scared.
In fact, my all-time fav horror movie might be Evil Dead 2 and thats mainly because of how HILLARIOUS it is!
Dead Alive also had me laughing histerically at parts.
love horror movies.
in terms of campy horror. Evil Dead 2 is my favorite.
in terms of a serious flick. Silent Hill probably tops my list.
As long as their is just good scare factors and not too overly gory, I love them.
Since, Blood and guts everywhere though isn't really my thing.
hate em, none are original anymore well at least none that i have seen in the last 10 years. I dont watch them much, cuz i really dont like a pointless story told to me about somebody killing people just cuz they are crazy. The last good one i saw was SAW 1 but i dont know if i would count that one as horror.
I like campy horror movies most, Dead Snow is the most recent one i've watched, and I loved it. anyone have suggestions for me?
Awesome movie. It's ironic that ITMoM basically epitmoizes the sensation of Lovecraft, whereas the movies actually based on his work have all sucked.I'm not opposed to the idea of the genre itself...but for some reason it seems like most of the movies that get made for that genre are crap, IMO. I can't do a singlefavorite. It's more about what mood I'm in. Sometimes I go for the classics, sometimes the hokey, etc.
28 Days Later, Event Horizon, Uzumaki, [REC], Trick r Treat, Night of the Living Dead, Evil Dead, Dead Alive, Jacob's Ladder, The Frighteners, Killer Klowns from Outerspace, The Mist, Cemetery Man, High Tension, Hellraiser, The Orphanage, Shaun of the Dead, Let the Right One In, Silence of the Lambs, Suspiria, Ju-on, Rungu, Alien, Aliens, The Thing, In the Mouth of Madness, Stir of Echos, Gigner Snaps, The Haunting and I'm ging to stop right there. I could go on and on, and I really shouldn't.
It is a genre I could definitely do without. Especially all of those zombie apocalypse movies. >_>
The Halloween movies are hilarious, though.
yeah they are OK,but sometimes cross the line with movies such as paranormal activities, that have such big impact on the mind and bothers you mentaly and has this kind of phsycological effect on the mind and normal lives. but on the other hand movies such as silent hill are great because they have something to offer, woow i love that pyramid headIf so, name your favorite!

They are ok. The plots tend to be bad and the acting just as terrible. Also, I cannot ******* stand the frightened people who do stupid things like slooowwwlllyyy open a door when they are being chased or take several hours to turn around to look what's behind them!:x The genre is very stale IMO.
I love horror movies, easily my favorite overall genre. Having said that I detest the majority of modern ones.
EDIT: As for a favorite...that's impossible. A few of my favorites are Halloween, Let The Right One In, 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, The Blair Witch Project, A Nightmare On Elm Street, Dawn of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead, The Exorcist, The Host (if that counts as horror), Planet Terror, Poltergeist, The Return of the Living Dead, Shaun fo the Dead, The Shining, Silent Hill, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Thing, and Trick 'r Treat. There's probably even more that I'm not thinking of....ya I love horror.
