If so, name your favorite!

My favorite HAS to be Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho.

I love horror movies. :D Even if they fail to scare me. My favorite is probably Halloween or Scream.

I love psychological and suspense horror movies like you mentioned. I dislike the slasher horror kind. They are just too silly. I like everything Alfred Hitchcock did, my favorite being Vertigo. I liked Jacob's Ladder a lot when I was younger, but the special effects look kind of cheesy. It's hard to actually pick a favorite so I'll just give two really good suspenseful movies. Gaslight, and Wait Until Dark.

I'd have to say it's my favorite genre. Some of my favorites are Jacob's Ladder, A Tale of Two Sisters, 28 Days Later, Drag Me To Hell, Repulsion, The Descent, and The Devil's Backbone. Can't pick just one. :P

I'm not opposed to the idea of the genre itself...but for some reason it seems like most of the movies that get made for that genre are crap, IMO. That said, my favorite would probably have to be In the Mouth of Madness.

I love the horror genre, but just as any other genre, the majority of efforts are crap.

Generally speaking no. I don't like being scared especially by cheap scares. Occasionally I'll watch a scary movie but its more of the thriller variety and not pure horror. I prefer to enjoy my movie watching experiences.

Generally no. I don't like being constantly tensed up with a knot in my stomach waiting for the next thing to jump out or some dude's face to appear in the mirror when someone finishes washing their face in the sink. I have that feeling through literally the entire duration of those types of films and it's just not enjoyable.

I like horror movies, just not mindless horror with no substance...ie slasher films, torture films and gore films with no substance. I personally like "horror" movies that are more then just horror, so my list may not constitute as "horror" to some. Anyway, my favorite movies in what are technically in the horror genre, or at least contain horror elements would be in order: Let the Right One In (2008 ) Night of the Living Dead (1968 ) The Thing (1982) The Shining (1980) Psycho (1960) Hard Candy (2005) Rosemary's Baby (1968 ) Se7en (1995) 28 Weeks Later (2007) 28 Days Later (2002) Jacob's Ladder (1990 ) The ones above are what I'd call consider smart horror films, basically films which offer more substance then just their horror elements and where some are actually genre bending. Then there is campy horror like "Evil Dead 2", "Drag Me to Hell", "Dawn of the Dead", and "Battle Royale", all which I enjoyed. In terms of what I would call straight up horror, I guess this would be the ones I liked. 30 Days of Night The Devil's Rejects The Descent The Strangers

To clarify just a little bit, when I say horror, I mean INCLUDING all the sub-genres of it as well. Psychological Horror, slasher films, anythings fair game.

Horror movies are awesome, but I don't really watch them to get scared.

In fact, my all-time fav horror movie might be Evil Dead 2 and thats mainly because of how HILLARIOUS it is!

Dead Alive also had me laughing histerically at parts.

As long as their is just good scare factors and not too overly gory, I love them.

Since, Blood and guts everywhere though isn't really my thing.

hate em, none are original anymore well at least none that i have seen in the last 10 years. I dont watch them much, cuz i really dont like a pointless story told to me about somebody killing people just cuz they are crazy. The last good one i saw was SAW 1 but i dont know if i would count that one as horror.

Awesome movie. It's ironic that ITMoM basically epitmoizes the sensation of Lovecraft, whereas the movies actually based on his work have all sucked.

I can't do a singlefavorite. It's more about what mood I'm in. Sometimes I go for the classics, sometimes the hokey, etc.

28 Days Later, Event Horizon, Uzumaki, [REC], Trick r Treat, Night of the Living Dead, Evil Dead, Dead Alive, Jacob's Ladder, The Frighteners, Killer Klowns from Outerspace, The Mist, Cemetery Man, High Tension, Hellraiser, The Orphanage, Shaun of the Dead, Let the Right One In, Silence of the Lambs, Suspiria, Ju-on, Rungu, Alien, Aliens, The Thing, In the Mouth of Madness, Stir of Echos, Gigner Snaps, The Haunting and I'm ging to stop right there. I could go on and on, and I really shouldn't.

They are ok. The plots tend to be bad and the acting just as terrible. Also, I cannot ******* stand the frightened people who do stupid things like slooowwwlllyyy open a door when they are being chased or take several hours to turn around to look what's behind them!:x The genre is very stale IMO.

I love horror movies, easily my favorite overall genre. Having said that I detest the majority of modern ones.

EDIT: As for a favorite...that's impossible. A few of my favorites are Halloween, Let The Right One In, 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, The Blair Witch Project, A Nightmare On Elm Street, Dawn of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead, The Exorcist, The Host (if that counts as horror), Planet Terror, Poltergeist, The Return of the Living Dead, Shaun fo the Dead, The Shining, Silent Hill, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Thing, and Trick 'r Treat. There's probably even more that I'm not thinking of....ya I love horror.
