[QUOTE="SilverChimera"][QUOTE="sigh-_-"]Which also tend to lack substance.sigh-_-Lack substance? Orchestrated game music is more musical than most forms of music. What is your definition of 'musical'? It's generally more complex. Go listen to lonlonjp on youtube :P

If you have them on iTunes, you can check straight from there how much space the "Game Soundtrack" genre takes up :P damn, not even close to 5GB :([QUOTE="SilverChimera"][QUOTE="sigh-_-"]What is your definition of 'musical'?sigh-_-It's generally more complex. Go listen to lonlonjp on youtube :P In that case yes, I probably agree - but I think the vast majority of music is fairly substanceless anyway. Okay, let's stop before this turns into something too big.

Yea, the remixes are great. I don't mind the synth'd music in game, but listening to it on its own is not my thing :P[QUOTE="SilverChimera"][QUOTE="mitu123"] OMG, why not?D=

[QUOTE="slvrraven9"][QUOTE="sigh-_-"]Very rarely. Video game music in general tends to lack substance.sigh-_-yeah if youre listening to music from a sega genesis.....nowadays musical scored in games rival scores from movies. Which also tend to lack substance. ochestrated music lacks substance? or is it maybe more your taste in music lacks substance? because VG music has something from every genre if you hadnt noticed. so is it more just because its from video games or is it simply because you dont like such and such particular song??
Can't go wrong with any Final Fantasy game or RPG's in general!Princess_Limetrue, so true! well thats because most of that music is made to stir up emotion though!
This is the only thing that comes close to Metal Gear Saga in terms of epic-ness:
The Final Battle - FF IX (skip to 1:25)
tetris remix, halo theme, mgs themes, don't play them on my ipod or anything, I just sometimes listen on youtube

It's simply the case that when music is relegated to the background, you find fairly consistently that less effort and attention to detail goes into it - as would be expected when the music is not the main event.

yeah i know what you mean dude, i havent really found an entire score that i can really get into as well so i usually just wind up with a few tracks here and there or something like that. but that track you posted was pretty damn good. thats from the Total War series? ill definatly have to find more from there...slvrraven9
That's from Gothic 3, actually. RPG music tends to jive with my musical tastes more often than other game music.
[QUOTE="mitu123"]Yeah, it did, that's one of the best things about it.:P how can a NES game have great music, isnt it 8 bit? 8-bit music doesn't equal to bad music.. It's simply the case that when music is relegated to the background, you find fairly consistently that less effort and attention to detail goes into it - as would be expected when the music is not the main event. thats not at all the case my good man. just because music is in the background doesnt mean theres and more or less emphasis put on it versus the actual game itself. in fact you could even go as far as to say that a good game doesnt exist without good music to stir emotion because thats what good entertainment does. so you can have good music without a good game but a good game without good music....is few and far inbetween. besides when you hire composers and youre given a budget of millions to put into the soundtrack i would say that a considerable amount of effort goes into making sure that the music does in fact fit with the games theme ya know...
