It depends when I see the anime. If I watch a few episodes in english, I grow accustomed to hearing that way and cant watch it in another language.

I prefer all things in their original origin. So if I was still into watching TVアニメ, I would be typing the title of the series in actual Japanese and watching it without English subtitles. I find English subtitles pointless for stuff of Japanese origin, sense Japanese is my second language and I much rather prefer Japanese subtitles.

wtf? How can people prefer english dub anime over the orginal japanese dub with english subtitles.?

The english version usually censors and edits many many scenes.

By watchign the english dub you are usually getting a watered down version of the anime.

You may as well ask why some people prefer to not invert their aim on shooters. It's just preference.

Well, I've seen DBZ in English, Spanish and Japanese, and what I didn't like about the English dub is that they changed the soundtrack and some of the phrases were wrong, for example the "OVER 9000" phrase.

Was it in Portuguese that instead of saying Kamehameha Goku says something like, "Luz Infinita!"? :P Oh, and what was wrong with the over 9000 phrase? What was the original?

The question is, how can you watch something in Japanese and you don't even know Japanese? I have more respect for those who watch it in English because they are watching it in their language most likely. People who watch TVアニメ subtitled in English, most likely will never know Japanese and are just doing it because they think the voice actors are better. Believe it or not, that's the only thing you get out of it, because you still lose the original translations when reading it in English. Not to mention you may lose some parts of whats going on while reading.

i'm fluent in romanized japanese so I guess it's okay for me but still the english versions censors many things in the anime, which is alot worse than a few mistranslated words.

Agrees. Especially with anime like Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon (in which both DiC & Cloverway screwed it all up), Dragonball Z, etc. Not many dubs like them stay true to the original versions.

Due to the original content being...well the original content, I find that the Japanese voice acting conveys emotion very well compared to English dubs, which often lose a lot of emotion to try and force silly voices (see: Luffy). When you read the subs along with the voice acting, you can get a better general idea of what's being said than literally what's translated.

it depends on the anime for me, but most often - japanise... for example i love the english dub of cowboy bebop, and rurouni kenshin, but the english dub of death note is absolutely horrible. also most likely than not you get the true emotion of a series from japanise and subs, also subs are the true meaning of a show, when some english scripts completely change the meaning of a conversation.

The original was "8000", the reason this didn't bother most people is because they grew up with the English version and they dislike the Japanese version for obvious reasons. What I learned is that as soon as I watched ドラゴンボールZ in Japanese, I actually had more interest in the series. What I do is I go on Youtube and type DragonBall Z in Japanese and watch it with no English subtitles. I still enjoyed it even though any Japanese I did know I couldn't pick up do to their accents. After all that time I finally realized why I couldn't get into DragonBall Z, it was because I like stuff of original origin.

exactly, and japanese is very phonetic which makes it easier to convey emotion.

Thanks for using the original translation, many people I think either say Sail Moon or some might rarely say Sailor Moons. The correct translation that even some uncut box sets may fail to use is (美少女戦士セーラームーン)"Pretty Solider Sailor Moon".

As much as people will argue this, the only one that is the best is the one from original origin. Why? Because even the Spanish version couldn't have certain stuff the Japanese version had. That's all I will say on that, even Japanese localization is just as bad to me, this a great example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nweF-jV3pg

You may be right but after I had watched it in Spanish I watched it in Japanese and most of the sentences/expressions and I think all of the soundtracks were correct.

Japanese with english subtitles. I watched Bleach in Japanese and then saw it on adult swim in english, I could never look a Ichigo the same way again. :P

Though for Deathnote, I liked it in English, but I stillpreferredit in Japanese.
