No one likes a cop until they need one. They're here to protect, whether you like it or not, and they put up with a lot of crap for our well being, so yes, I respect them. The cop in my town can be a jerk at times but he means well and I'm glad he's here.

oh im doing it for the $$ but I wont be corrupt I'll save you but if its too dangerous I might chicken and run away
I've never met an on-duty cop who wasn't a dick.
I walk around on the sidewalks at night, because needing only 4 hours of sleep a night (envy me, I know you do) I've got to keep myself occupied since everyone else sleeps. I haven't been harassed by the cops in a while, but when I first moved here they let me know more than once they didn't "appreciate" me being out that late.
When I asked, they agreed I was breaking no law, but said "we don't like it". To which I simply told them that's too damn bad, we live in a 24-hour society, I'm not a juvenile, I know my rights, and if they don't have probable cause or a warrant they need to leave me the hell alone. Then they searched me. :?
When I got T-boned a few years ago at an intersection, the cop never asked me what happened, he just wrote down that I had ran a red light. Fortunately, the camera at the intersection proved it was the guy who hit me that ran the light.
And finally (though first chronologically), when I was in Junior High school I got accused of burning down Medford Elementary school just because someone said they saw me in the area. No sh1t, my house was right across from the school. They tried to get me to confess and told me a judge would throw the book at me and I'd be going to jail till I was 21. Went right up to the day of the trial and then when I showed up for court they decided to drop all charges.
So thanks for 4 months of hell and anxiety, you bastards. Great way to instill respect for authority in a kid.
[QUOTE="ShadowsDemon"]It depends. Most the most part: yes I do.cyborg9
oh ok but im black will that be a problem? Im actually trying to lighten my skin so i get respect perhaps and more white girlfriends
lolwut?[QUOTE="ZumaJones07"]no reason to, they abuse their powersNgamer05
sad but true
It depends on the police man/woman though.Didn't you just link your facebook in another thread? Why apply to VPD if you're in Ontario? And "IMMATURE" is not the word you want to relate to yourself and broadcast to the public if you want to be a cop....
I respect cops in general. Power trippers, no, but just in general I do. I generally follow the rules too, so I don't give them any reason to pull me over or anything or to get in any trouble. Most people who don't respect them don't because they can't be assed to follow rules and then get in trouble.
Also TC your phone number is publicly viewable on your facebook just fyi.

I do. :(
Damn straight.
In general, yes, but not most of the ones in my area. I'm far from the only one where I live that has that viewpoint. They seem to like harassing people over small matters.
Yea, I do. Most of the cops here in Canada are pretty good people. I can only think of two or three cops that I've seen that were power-hungry assh0les.
Sheriffs? Where do you live? In the 1880s Wild West? The ones in my town? Hell no. The Sheriff is a cocky a$$hole.

A lot of counties in the country has an elected sheriff. Sheriffs aren't always the stereotype you see in movies.
Even New York City has a sheriff.
obviously, most who don't respect the police are idiots who can't accept basic discipline or are criminals
Yes, mainly because my dad is a cop. however, i do believe that there are "bad eggs" who abuse their power
I think the vast majority of people respect us. The ones that say they don't(especially in OT) are normally younger and are just starting to come into their own with regards to their beliefs.
Then, of course, you're going to get the people who are criminals, or have had unfavorable encounters with police. Not much you can do to sway their opinion.
How people feel about my profession doesn't really bother me. The pay is good, it's not retail where I actually have to take sh*t from people who are having a bad day, and thus far I haven't encountered anything too hairy. Haven't had to shoot anybody, either. Which is a plus.
They gave me a ticket for jay walking
fu cking jay walking, i had to get someone to cover my shift to get the ticket removed, which cost 80 dollars
I hate pigs
