do you respect police?

I think the vast majority of people respect us. The ones that say they don't(especially in OT) are normally younger and are just starting to come into their own with regards to their beliefs.

Then, of course, you're going to get the people who are criminals, or have had unfavorable encounters with police. Not much you can do to sway their opinion.

How people feel about my profession doesn't really bother me. The pay is good, it's not retail where I actually have to take sh*t from people who are having a bad day, and thus far I haven't encountered anything too hairy. Haven't had to shoot anybody, either. Which is a plus.

I respect the police. I have also thought about joining a police force or fire departement, still do though as university gets really boring at times.

Genrally yeah, but I treat all of the cops I come across (which is barely any) on a case by case basis lmao

Not really. A lot of them tend to be bullying a** holes in my experience. Oh many of them are normal people, but I think the profession, which puts them in a position of authority over the general public , naturally tends to draw a high percentage of a-holes to it.

Usually yes. But today there were some manifests at my country (Portugal) and the police abused of their force and start kicking ass. I didn't liked that one bit, so police's reputation on my scale has gone down.

We'd be knackered without them, so yes I respect them and their drive to get scum off the streets.

Most of the people I know of who don't respect police are teens who have a problem with authority and really don't respect anybody, period. Then there are the people who got in trouble with the law to include people who get several traffic tickets.

Granted, there are people out there who have a legitimate reason to dislike police such as the victims of police brutality and people who live in third world countries where officers are corrupt. But that situation doesn't apply to everybody and a lot of the hate is unwarranted.

I respect the officers who respect the law and act of the proper authority. There are those who do not this however.

Inherently and universally? No way. If I come into contact with some fair, polite cops, then sure, I'd respect those individual cops.

Most of the cops here are absolute raging a.ssholes, but I've had no problem being friendly and respectful back to the few friendly cops I've dealt with.

I could respect a single officer but not them as a whole

Haven't had much interaction with cops, so yeah. Alot of people in my family are cops though and think that most other cops are a** holes or corrupt. (To be fair they work(ed) in and around chicago)

i do respect the police but anyone that does not realize every single encounter with them could be a potentially life threatening situation is just a fool.

when i get pulled over i immediately turn on every interior light and place my hands on the wheel and do not move them until the officer has a chance to assess the situation.

is this fair or right or constitutional? i don't care. life is what it is and you can take the steps to protect yourself or you can roll the dice and take your chances that you will never run into one of the tiny fraction of police that abuse their power or is some sort of psychopath that has slipped past the screening process.

The "pigs" work all the holidays, yes, all. without compensation, the night and weekends without any right to payment of night hours in the rain in the sun, the cold in the heat and so on.

The "sons of ****es" , after leaving service, go to court with the drunk that could very well run down your whole family when you left to go dinner and celebrate a **** that happened.

Stay at work to finish the record that goes on the morning to court, with the gang that robbed at gunpoint or with some guy that has stolen, killed, robbed the pharmacy, jewelery, car, kid who came home from school, old man on the bus, and so on.

The "scumbags", call the trailer when you can not leave the car, when one like you, abusing his freedom leave the car in front of a garage exit.

The "pimps" house and protect women, children who are beaten of by some piece of ***** just because he wants, and take him to court, on their time off.

The "parasites" enter into burning houses, face firearms, knives and all kinds of weapons, chase at high speeds, dealing with all kinds of diseases. Run in the opposite direction when all others flee from there.

Who are you to judge them?

Those you look down upon, know a little bit of everything, are priests, judges, doctors, rescuers, firefighters, Rambos, Psychologists, Teachers, Mechanics, and if you add all of this and something else you have a policeman.When will you realize that you only speak about freedom cause they exist?
If they did not exist, would you go to the beach?To the game?

Dining out? Would you let your kid go to school?

I don't believe so.
Don't you understand that insulting them is insulting what you are, a free man?Their uniform is rich in blood sweat and tears, and guys like you, when they need it, they find on them refuge and protection.

Many of them never had a father that gave them a car, or pay them college, but they are rich in priceless things, among them selflessness, generosity, spirit of sacrifice, humility, altruism, and honor.

Google these words and you will know their meaning.
