[QUOTE="ElectronicMagic"]Because everytime they say it it feels like they just punched me in the face.

. . . .Because they give you an extremely simple courtesy that has been around for centuries, if not millenia?
Seriously, that's just sad. I might as well get angry at a man who opens a door for a woman because he's implying that she's not strong enough to open a door for herself.
It is an empowering thing to them, and thus a weakening thing to me.ElectronicMagic:
Are you offended by the days of the week as well? After all, they're named after deities. "What's today?" "Thursday." "Please, don't say that, it excludes people who don't believe in Thor. I prefer to call it goddoesnotexist day."
Then there's the names of the months. January? Janus.
Then there are the names of certain cities. Los Angeles? The Angels. San Francisco? San? Saint. Santa? Saint? Are you offended by cities or buildings or roadways with these words in their names?
And don't even get me started on the names of planets (Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune) and their moons (Titan, Europa, and so on).
I don't worship ANY of those deities, but I'm not feeling offended by them nor am I feeling "excluded" by celebrating Christmas, a holiday that originated as a celebration for the Pagan deity Saturn.
So tell me, shall we change every little thing because some hyper-sensitive neo atheists have incredibly irrational feelings about the slightest things?

Everything on the federal and state levels should be changed to be secular to be equal. Also, the religion's you mentioned are those of "dead" religions. So of course you wouldn't feel excluded in anyway. I don't think it's incredibly irrational to feel that everyone should be treated equally in a land which claims to be based on equality. I wouldn't expect you to understand, you haven't been discriminated againsts for your belief's in the real world directly. Maybe if the shoe was on the other foot you would understand.
Bless you originated because people use to believe when you sneeze, an evil being would escape from your body, hence, "BLESS you"Do you say salud or gesundheit?
I happen to know the biological reason for sneezing and in no way believe it's due to an evil apparition escaping our bodies. So to answer your question, no, I do not say bless you.

I have plenty of times before, especially around people I just met. When they find out, they are pretty shocked and had assumed all along that I was of their religion. In-fact I have lost a few friends after they found out that I'm an Atheist. It doesn't bother me that they are no longer my friends, just makes me wish they would assume I was something because they are.
That's pretty patheticWhat can you do when people stop being friends with you when they find out that you are an Atheist? It's alright with me, just shows what kind of people they are and who my true friends are.
I'm agreeing with you by saying THEY are pretty pathetic[QUOTE="ElectronicMagic"][QUOTE="DivergeUnify"][QUOTE="ElectronicMagic"][QUOTE="DivergeUnify"]No one probably does...DivergeUnify

I'm agreeing with you by saying THEY are pretty patheticHow do you befriend someone who so easily defriends you because of your beliefs :?I thought they were good, upstanding people at the time. We never talked about religion before, I had been friends with them for a good several years and even dated one of them, then one day she asked me why I didn't go to church and I told her I was an Atheist and had been since I was ten. She broke up with me a few days later after she had told some of her/our friends and some of them stopped being friends with me along with her.
That was when I was seventeen, I'm twenty now, going on twenty-one soon. The thing I find funny now is that these so called holier than thou friends I had, have since had kids out of wedlock and even my ex has two, each with a different Daddy, it's funny how things end up. I don't regret it, my true friends were/still are there for me.
That's insane. All I can say is stupid people are stupid, regardless of religion. I don't think you should blame that on Christianity.I thought they were good, upstanding people at the time. I try not to blame it entirely on Christianity, but it's kind of hard not to feel that Christianity was a factor in it though. Back then I was a "closeted Atheist" in a way, when someone said bless you or god bless you, merry christmas, ect, I wasn't offended and even said it back to people. But I have to admit that I have had negative feelings for religion in general since then. There have been other things like that that has happened to me aswell though in terms of being descriminated against.

Well in that case I can kind of see why you would be a bit bitter. You'd love it in my area: athiest galour[QUOTE="Dracargen"]ElectronicMagic:

All right. Let's change the days, the months, the planets, and everything else because they somehow exclude atheists, even though only the hyper-sensitive ones are offended. Let's appeal to the minority in a democracy. And those religions are not dead. People still believe in the Greek Pantheon even today.
And I don't know what world you live in, but yes I have been discriminated against for my beliefs.:| Everybody is.:|
yes i do every time
but only once, if someone sneezes twice theyve out stayed their sneezing welcome imo
