I'm not sure if they will. In fact, I think the religious conservatives probably never will, but who knows? What do you think?

EDIT: I left my original post rather cryptic, so I'll clarify. I do not think all conservatives are religious or anti-homosexuality. I am a conservative atheist, and although I'm not pro-homosexuality, I know many conservatives who are accepting of homosexuality. However, religious conservatives tend to be more socially conservative and many religions condemn homosexuality and it will be harder to religious conservatives to accept homosexuality I think.

Also, by accepting, I mean that I wonder if conservatives will ever support the equal rights of same-sex couples that opposite-sex couples have. In addition, they cannot claim to have logical reasons against homosexuality. By accepting, I mean that they can disagree with homosexuality, but only on an emotional level. They have to accept it on a legal and moral level.

a more valid question is:

Do you actually not know the answer to this? Seriously, do you believe every conservative hates homosexuals?

I think the US is shifting that way. Support for homosexual relationships and marriage has grown steadily, and will continue to do so. At least I hope so.

Does homosexuality really still need to be censored in the topic title ? As it is now a single blocked out letter does not make much of a difference.

Pirate700

Conservatives are more likely to have a problem with homosexuality. Most arguments against homosexuality are about preserving tradition, which is a conservative concept.

a more valid question is:

Do you actually not know the answer to this? Seriously, do you believe every conservative hates homosexuals?

squitsquat

Most conservatives want homosexuals to become heterosexual or practice abstinence. A lot of religious conservatives want homosexuals to become Christians, thinking that will cure them.

...Not all conservatives are against homosexuality. Not all conservatives are religious either.

Atmanix

I know. I technically am a conservative by today's standards, although I'm an atheist and politically, I prefer to be considered a libertarian, because I think upholding tradition is blind whereas upholding liberty is always good. However, I am disgusted by homosexuality and do not desire homosexuality to become socially accepted. That's my opinion though. I am all for civil unions for same-sex couples, but I do not think it is moral for a same-sex couple to have sex.

But I'd say the argument is against everyone having the right to marry someone of the same sex. There's no inequality there in my opinion.

There are plenty of conservatives who are accepting of homosexuality. Even at my most conservative (now I'm a Libertarian), I was absolutely accepting of homosexuality and cared a lot about gay rights. Of course the right-wing has this reputation of being totally against it and of being really homophobic, but that isn't entirely true. I suppose most of that comes from the 'Religious Right' which tends to get more press than anything else, unfortunately. There are plenty of homophobic/anti-homosexuality people on all sides of the political spectrum as well. Like chessmaster1989 said, I hope that one day everyone will be accepting.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't find homosexuallity (the actions not the people) on the gross side, but that not a reason why they should be allowed to be married.

I don't see why any person who believes in what their religion tells them about homosexuality reguardless of political stance would change that view whether it be accepting or not.

I'm very skeptical in this area. I believe it's okay for an opposite-sex couple to exist, so as long as they do not date or flirt in public or have sex. Here are a few statistics of why practicing homosexuality is unhealthy.

The reason is because there are essential sex differences in men and women. Why is it legal for a private company to have separate restrooms designated for men and women? Why is it legal for schools to mandate boys dress a certain way and girls dress differently? Isn't this "separate but equal"? It is because of the essential sex differences. If you do support sexual equality, then everything else touching sex falls.

How is a system when straight and gay couples can have civil partnerships but only straight couples can marry 'equal'? It clearly establishes marriage as above civil partnership. You're no libertarian.

Having different restrooms and styles of dress uniforms does not have any comparison to the issue of homosexual marriage. Least in my view. I honestly have no idea where you are drawing comparisons here, maybe I am just missing the point that you we're trying to make

How is a system when straight and gay couples can have civil partnerships but only straight couples can marry 'equal'? It clearly establishes marriage as above civil partnership. You're no libertarian.HAHAITHINKNOT
Well, "separate but equal" is a bit of a misleading phrase, because opposite-sex couples and same-sex couples are not equal, as only opposite-sex couples possess the power to reproduce within the relationship, assuming both people are fertile.
