Eating cats and dogs is taboo because those are considered pets but in china they eat dogs, eating humans is also a taboo but animals can eat humans without remorse. What I'm trying to say is that only humans think eating something is correct or incorrect because of the value we give to those lives, plants are alive too but nobody seems to care if they die to feed us.

Morally, well that depends on person to person.

It is, however, natural and I see nothing wrong with the circle of life.

I don't think it's "right", but I care little if others eat what comes natural. I just think we should know better by now.

Anyone who eats meat is a huge polluter. If I remember correctly, it's actually the biggest source of greenhouse gases.

Why should I feel guilty when they'd just eat each other anyway? I should have munch on leaves just because I'm smarter? **** that...

Sure it's wrong. Nature's full of carnage and rape. The mere fact that something's natural certainly doesn't make it right. Still, since nobody's punishing me for getting my protein from lovely, tasty animals, I'll go on eating delicious cows and pigs and not worry my head about it.

All moral judgments are entirely subjective. I don't think eating meat is "wrong", at least in the absolutist sense that most people would interpret this situation as. No more wrong than it would be to eat vegetables, anyway.

Eh, it's right in most cases since most animals lack any semblance of autonomy (the ability to self-govern reflectively).

It's natural for humans to eat meat, we are designed to. If we don't then we get sick and need to take iron pills.

This topic is up fairly often, is it not?

Anyways Ill say what I always say:

If all people on earth were to go vegitatian, or vegan, the space needed for the food would be mindblowing, and kill atleast just as many animals due to all the nature that needs to be restructured to fields.

Remember, a human being can NOT live of potatoes, they need Protine, starch, calsium, fat, sugar, salt (and the list goes on).

If we were all to get that from plants, the sheer space needed would be mindboggeling, and far far more inefficiant then meat is. And also less viable for the soil we use for it. And alot of those plants, are really unhealthy in the volumes that needs to be consumed (like beans)

The basic fact is that the human body is geared to sustain itself on a mix of meat and plants, which makes it very hard to skip meat without serious side effects.

To illustrate my point feel free to look up the life expectency og vegetarians (not that bad for them) and Vegans (die quite young), and then look up what is needed daily to support the possability of them living.

Ive found that most people who are against humans eating meat are people that have lived really sheltered lifes with no touch in the state of nature, and how nature is connected, and what each animal needs to survive.

Likely people who havenever seen where milk, or meat comes from, and think you can grow what is needed everywhere on earth. Thinking they have a golden answer no one ever thought about before... Personally I tend to dislike that specific kind of people, because they do no rescearch about how the things work. If it is from a religious purpose I do understand it alot more tho (accept).

To me It has never been a question of eating meat, but treating the animal well before it die, afterall alot of animals lives quite long, and likely a good life before it is turned into lovely meat, it is consumers that decides how well an animal have lived.

Maddie_Larkin

Hmm... maybe you could provide that data instead since the quick search I ran under "vegetarian life expectancy" suggested that vegetarians have an average life expectancy two to four years greater than meat eaters. Not saying you're wrong, but as it stands, that's an unsubstantiated claim.

Who cares? If we wouldn't breed animals like that they would be born out in the wild where they would most likely be subdued and eaten alive by a bigger animal. Such is the way of life really. Wouldn't you rather they die in a controlled environment?

I for one believe that we have the power and right to manipulate them into a source of vital nutrients, as the superior species of this world.

That sounds like it's straight out of the mouth of Dwight K. Schrute.

It is right.... either way.... whatever you are eating was once alive or part of something alive.... no matter if it is a plant or an animal, people who say eating animals is a murder, should start thinking how they murder poor tomatoes.:P

Indeed, eating meat is a good thing. It's the savages who eat plant life that make me really sick. I like to throw chlorophyll on unsuspecting passer-byes wearing a garment made with cotton.

No I do not, I am attempting to become a vegetarian but is has nothing to do with the morality of consuming dead creatures. Honestly I just feel much healthier when I don't eat meat.

I think eating meat is just fine. We would never have survived this long as a species without the benefits of a meat-rich diet, it's necessary to our survival. Nothing wrong with killing animals either, so long as it is done humanely and done for the purpose of using every part of that animal for food/production,etc.
