I used to live 10 minutes from the beach for about 8 years. Now I live in the middle of the desert. I miss the beach horribly..DeLurk
well, I can see how compared to the desert the beach would look good. I mean, they both are covered in sand, the beach just has water.Â
I love the beach. I was on Maui from age 8-20, and what else is there to do? Beach in the morning, beach at night......you are crazy if you don't think the beach is alright. That's my horrible rapping skills for ya.
Down in Ka'anapali (where a majority or the resorts are), if you take a walk down the beach you'll see pools no more than 50 yards from the ocean. The incredible thing is, they are always crowded. Why pay to go stay in Hawaii, get a room in an expensive resort, and then spend all the time around the pool? Just stay on the mainland, go to the YMCA, and save yourself some money. It makes no sense to me.
Anyways, yea the beach is awesome. I love that salty caked up feeling after spending the day in the ocean.Â
IMO, you can't beat it.
Wrong, I've been to Honolulu and there are multiple YMCAs and YWCAs there. The city itself is freakin huge, it has every store that here is NorCal, from Walmart to Sears to Gap to Gamestop. Honolulu has everything. Maui on the other hand, it has NOTHING. Not to mention Honolulu has the most movie theaters per square mile than any city in the U.S. and it has a waterpark, multiple golf course and other goodles. I want to go back.I love the beach. People say "there are hot girls!". Well all the girls say "there are hot guys!" and if a guy doesn't think they are hot, then they most likely dont like the beach. THe beach is known for "hot" people however... there are people i'd wish i never saw 1/2 naked. When i went to hawaii the beaches were nice, but i still didn't want to get in the water. I liked the pools though.Â

If you want to go back to O'ahu for the reasons you stated, I ask again: whynot just stay on the Mainland? You want to go back.....for what? Everything you can get where you are already at? You state O'ahu as having these things, being a floating city, as a good thing. I see it as somewhat working against what makes Hawaii so great in the first place.
Maui does not have "nothing", but I would prefer if it did. It's charm and it's draw comes from it's distance from being so commercialized.
to bad for you, the beach is where all the hot chicks are2ndWonder
what about slope bunnies? huh? only gonna find them in the snow.
I'm with you, I don't like the beach. I like swimming well enough, but I don't like crowds or being in public in general so, the beach is out. Plus, you have to drag all your stuff down there, and then you just sit around...just not real fun.
Plus, my legs are so white, they cause nearby aircraft to divert their flight paths...
