Yes, think of all the people we would be helping!

Espescially the suicidally depressed! By golly, they might just pull a gun out on another person to have an assisted suicide or might even take a few people out before pulling the trigger on themselves!

In other words: No.

A much more better solution to school shootings would be having security checkpoints. Not everyone should have a gun that's just ridiculous.

If everyone carries a gun when they go to work or school, then shootings like the Columbine High and Virginia Tech wouldn't have claimed so many lives of the innocent people. What do you think ? Is it a good idea ? :)Zensword

If we had guns. they'll have Uzi's

If we have Bullet Vest, They'll have anti-vest rounds.

Didn't you learn from Batman? Once batman came to town, the joker did D: it's one of the morals of the movie.

Anything we do they'll be a step over it. As much as I hate to admit it, when you're getting robbed it's best to just let them.

The only thing that needs to happen is to remove that "cruel and unusual punishemnt" amendment. If we could go chop all the criminals balls then there be less crime. You tell the world Smoking will kill sex drive people wont smoke.

I for one would very much enjoy meeting a 5 year old on the street who had a gun. Sounds quite fantastic.

Not everyone should carry a gun. I think that mentally competent adults should be permitted to own, possess and carry them, but that is a different statement altogether.

That would be pretty cool. What type of guns though? Automatic? Pistol? Sniper? Light Machine gun? Sub Machine gun? Shotguns? If it was a choice I would always carry a M4 Carbine assault rifle with ACOG scope attached and and sawed off shotgun with Slight of hand. :P

You mean like the good old Wild West, pilgrim? Somehow I don't think arming a bunch of high school kids would have stopped Columbine. Wouldn't proper psychological counselling have stopped those shootings?

we all have a right to bare arms.

i support gun ownership nd i think everyone that isnt mental or felons are allwoed to cary any guns in the civilian market and to provate citizens can have their military guns but to keep them at bay and only for hunting or selfdefence purposes only.

I can't carry one now on account of where I live but when I go back home I definitely will.

I think if you can't fight very well you should carry something.

People who take the time to become properly licensed should carry a firearm, if they like. Everyone should not, much in the same fashion as everyone does not drive an automobile.

That's a sane stance IMO, but a far cry from the OP. The reality is that responsible, sane, competant adults that do carry often don't do so at all times. It's not comfortable for one thing, and it can frighten people. So... you get shootings in an IHOP when it's overwhelmingly likely that SOME of those people could have had handguns on them, but made a choice not to. I'm not sure how I feel about someone who carries all the time in expectation of a black swan event.

Palantas

Oh yes, and even those who DO drive autos can reach a point in life, or just age where they shouldn't be driving. Note how difficult it is when that happens, once they HAVE the car and the right, to deny them either. I imagine the same is true of guns, so definitely not an "everyone" thing.

You have to be pretty paranoid to carry a gun with you wherever you go...Apocalypse97

I know people who have a gun in the car and at home... I even know a guy who open-carries (not in my state), but he doesn't do it MOST, never mind all of the time. True, the gun you don't have on you can't help you, but the gun you DO have on you can be taken from you and used against you. It's a balancing act, and the reality is that some people are not mentally equipped to shoot another human being without a mental "windup", during which they're doomed. If you're not a 'shooter'... don't pull a gun on someone, it will end badly for you. Besides, if someone pulls a gun on you first, you might as well not have that gun; the best move is still to comply. If the person has a knife, you have to make a judgement about whether or not they're likely to harm you before you take a life... or that decision may haunt you in many many ways.

To what ends? Furthermore school shootings? They are so rare why even bring them up? Statistically have far greater things to worry about then that.. And I honestly would feel unsafe is every one around me was carrying a gun..

Guns can save lives as much as they can destroy them. A fine balance between the two extremes of "No guns!" and "Guns for all!" is best.

Every who hasn't committed a felony or has a mental illness, and who has taken classes, yes. Criminals don't fear the unarmed citizen.

This seems like a good idea. It would be nice if you could stop chavs and wanksters from having them too, a check on how high the applicants jeans are and the number of shell suits they own would be nice.

How about grenades? I think everyone should carry grenades... Also it should be required to throw at least one grenade a day, just to keep everyone aware of danger.

We appreciate the ability to defend ourselves, others, and our property.

If threatened by a 200 pound thug I enjoy the ability to not be at their mercy.

Pretending criminals don't exist or will respect the law is lunacy

Believing calling 911 or ADTs home alarm sound will protect you from someone meaning you harm is plain idiocy

That depends entirely where you live.. The US isn't a third world country.. People seem not to understand that threats like terrorism, criminals etc etc have a far less chance of hurting you then a car accident on the way to work.. And even those high crime rate areas, the people who usually live there can't afford a gun to begin with. This isn't suggesting we ban guns, but this "what if" scenerio rarely happens statistically for any one.

It's legal in most states actually...
