Why there is a magnetic field around Mercury ? It makes no sense at all! But yet, it's there. It's impossible to have a magnetic field there, there's nothing to generate it.

if i'm not mistaken, the core of a planet creates it. especially in mercury's case given that its basically swimming in magnetism since its so close to the sun!

That's what I always thought, given that there is a North and South pole on EVERY planet, the planets core gives off a magnetic field relative to the poles.

Source your info OP, or it's false.

There is a weak magnetic field around venus. but a theory exists that it isn't created by an internal dynamo like the earth (molten rock/metal in the core) but dynamics in the atmosphere.

you are basing your argument on if the majority believes it it must be fact which is false. If the whole world believed fire din't burn the skin and i believed it did does that change the effects of fire on the skin. Answer is no. If the whole world believed they could fly we would have alot of people committing suicide and very few looking at them like idiots. Your logic seems flawed.

If i shoot you in the head and it enters and exits the brain you can believe you will live, for about 1 minute, be fore you undoubtly die. If i'm convinced that 2+4=876, that is belief but the former is reality and truth.

Belief is an abstract concept that we think to be true (ie, god, faires, what have you) while reality is something that can actually be observed.
