The thing is, you're preaching about opinions here, yet you're so aggressive towards anyone who dares put forth one that contradicts your own.

I, personally, think fall out boy are absolutely terrible. I really do. I'm not a hater, and i'm not an elitist. But according to you i am. Simply because i find their music whiney and irritating.

Opinions work both ways. You cant talk about how it's all a matter of opinion, and therefore fall out boy are great, only to talk down at anyone who dares say otherwise.

a) Musically speaking, they use the same generic patterns of power chords made popular by Punk rock in the 70s, used a lot more by glam-rock and later grunge leading into the 90s, and completely overdone and used to excess by the likes of Green Day.

b) Their sound lacks any form of originality whatsoever.

c) The singer sounds as though he is on the verge of tears at all times, hence my criticism of "whiney music". If you dig that, great. But i cant stand music which sounds like wailing or crying.

d) The videos are nearly always teen stereotypes gone wild

e) Their fans have a tendency to justify their like of their music, which in my opinion, only points out how bad they really are. If your fanbase feels the need to explain why they like the music and why it's ok to listen to it, your next album needs some more work.

I've kept my opinion defensive since I joined this board. However, time and time again I see unnecessary hate towards them. I'm just doing the same thing. ^_^SolidSnake35

How can you describe vocalising dislike of fallout boy as unnecessary? The simple fact is that an awful lot of people greatly dislike them.

I realise that they're popular with young teenagers, and that's great. But the vast majority of people aren't fans, so it's pointless to try to convert people, and it's pointless to try and brand anyone who says a word against them as elitist or haters because that simply isn't the case.

Most people simply dont think they're any good. I'm the only person out of everyone i know (in real life) who loves Beck, but i dont try to force it on others, or tell people they're wrong when they hate his latest song. Life doesn't work that way.

I don't understand why it wouldn't work. Needless to say, Fall Out Boy is like an annoying acquaintence that you see everytime you go to a store that plays music that you want to get rid of, but don't care enough about to go the front and demand that he be removed from within your earshot. It is a fact that you cannot preach about the subjectivity of opinions, when you too do the very thing you're supposedly against; putting down other opinions as inferior or incorrect in comparison to your own.

If somebody says fall out boy suck, you should know that that is their opinion. There is no need for a rebuttal. No need for you to call them a hater or an elitist. And no need to say that they are wrong. That is their opinion, and you have yours.

That's exactly it, for me. Dull. I listen to it and just feel nothing but contempt or indifference. I think they appeal mostly to young teengers, though i could be wrong. The only fans i've ever come across where all in the 13-16 bracket. Perhaps it's an age thing.

In my eyes FOB is a joke and should be destroyed, but people have the right to listen to this band at their own free will. But saying that they are better than any user's fav band is retarded. They are nothing more than a stupid cheap poppy manufactured mainstream band thats easy on the ears and for all the masses, I need more than just that. Did you made this thread because simply you are tired of the constant crap that goes against FOB? If so they deserve it, whatever possessed god and heaven to make a band like FOB anyways. The doctors should of just choked those would be FOB guys with their own cords when they were born.
