Honestly, I agree in that losing weight isn't really that difficult of a proscessfor most people, but really who cares. I'm inclined to let people be fat if they wish. Fightingfan

It's easier the more obese you are. It's easier for someone who's 300lbs to lose 10lbs, but try being 100lbs and trying to lose 5lbs.

This is true, and I've always wondered why. I was once at 235 (6'0) and was able to melt the fat off doing intense cardio. Now I'm at 180 and trying to get to 175 and it seems no matter how hard I try it's very difficult to get off, and even easier to put back on.

i don't see why you should care how people look, it's their choise, if you don't like it don't be one, it's that simple. You think because you like slim people then everyone should be slim?

I find it more baffling why would people think they should dictate how other people should look

I for one couldn't care less about fat people.

I'm for doing whatever the fvck you want until it effects me. Squeeze your fat ass in the seat next to me at the movies or on an airplane whilst taking up some of my space---yes I have a huge problem with your decision to be fat.

Cute. Losing weight is easy. There's nothing self-righteous or egotistical about wanting people to either get in shape or realize they have a problem and stop lobbying for society to accept their laziness.

Yes guys this is the answer to all our problems. JUST DON'T EAT!

And have no energy, be in a bad mood all day, have little strength, lose your hair, have cracked nails, crappy bones, and have a body devoid of proper nutrients. IT'LL BE FUN!

These "just don't eat comments" are stupid as fvck.

It also takes a lot more calories to move all that flab when running ^^

also don't not eat, it's unhealthy and you'll possibly develop eating disorders.

One of the worst things to do to an obese person is insult them. That just adds into the negative emotions, that drives their need to eat for comfort.

Obese people should be encouraged to lose weight not bashed. I know people think they are helping them by calling them pigs and jam rolls but it doesn't help. In fact it just makes the problem worse. And may I ask you why shouldn't fat people be respected? Even though they are unhealthy they should still be treated with respect. They are still humans.

I live on a University Campus in Ohio... And I can tell you it is like encouraged to eat unhealthy here... There are an abundance of food places on campus and even more off campus... But the healthy food is astronomically more expensive than the unhealthy food.

For example... There is is a Burger King right next an Organic Deli... The deli, as I described, sells subs mad from organic fruits, vegetables, organic lunchmeats, breads, etc... Healthy stuff... It cost $6.75 for a 6" sub there, $10.50 for a 12"... Right next to it though... You can buy three double cheeseburgers and some fries for the same cost as that 6" sub.

Pre-packed salads that are about the size of a small bowl, $6.50... Pre-packaged sushi anywhere from $7-$10...

And that doesn't even include drinks... Want some juice or a bottle of water? $2. Want a fountain soda with 150 calories and sugar in it? $0.90.

And a snack/side? Apples, oranges, bananas... $1.50... Bag of cheetos... $1.

I don't know about you, but a double cheeseburger, coke, and a bag of cheetos for $3.90 is a lot more appealing than $10.25 for a 6" sub, apple, bottle of water... Especially when I try to eat 3 meals for that price in a day and I am a poor college student.

Or you can buy your own products and make the food your self instead of buying pre-made pre-packaged stuff :) I'm a college student, I have time to do it, so can everyone else :P

For an organic deli that is a pretty good price considering Penn Station would charge you more for the same size sub. Also just because something is organic doesnt mean it is healthy. Sure i would prefer organic apples and strawberries but im fine with just washing them off and would anyways. Also Im sure there are stores nearby where you could buy your own apples and bananas along with a 24 pack of bottled water for about $4. If you only eat out then of course it is going to be expensive and nearly impossible to eat healthy. I try to limit eating out to about once a week but there have been times when ive gone a month without it and times when ive eaten out 4 times in a single week. Still there needs to be balance and when i do eat out that much i end up choosing something slightly more healthy each time if i can. A BLT isnt great for you but it is pretty much a salad compared to a double cheese burger.

There's a difference between being chubby and being a whale though. I got 0 sympathy for people that drink buckets of soda, who've become so fat that they need machinery to cart them around.

This is fine

This is gross however.

I'd be more concerned based on the fact that obesity rates are rapidly growing in North America, quickly extending to the UK and do nothing but drive up health care costs. The fact that some people are too large to move and need special lifts and larger sized ambulances is absolutely terrifying. I have no problem with people who are large, but I do have a problem with people who are obese.

Has anyone considered the possibility that some people get fat because they have trouble getting around? Like, rather than immobility being caused by obesity, the obesity is caused by immobility.

I understand the basic psychology of it. but for me it went a bit differently. I stopped going to school at 16 and spent most of my days sitting on my ass, drinking beer and eating copious amounts of junk food. As the months progressed, I hit my peak of 240lbs (at 5'8", at the time). It seemed to happen faster than I consciously realized. Eventually I got disgusted to the point of quitting soda entirely, cutting down majorly on junk food and dropped to 170lbs within about half a year. The fatter I became, the more disgusted I became. I can understand how some people can warp their head around into acceptance/love of their weight, but I just couldn't do it. I still have a hefty amount of stretchmarks in various places. Note, I have absolutely nothing against obese/fat/overweight people. I tend to let people go about their own lives and not impose my beliefs/views.

IMO, all morbidly obese humans have to present donations of human fat in order to receive treatment of financial support. The donated human fat is used as a economic product, for example fuel. The energy value of fat is pretty decent so the raised money can be used to provide aid for the morbidly obese. Effectivly reducing the cost of morbidly obese people!

Yeah, I know. The problem is that people use that as a justification to just be generally a jerk to obese people. Look at how many comments there are expressing disgust at the obese people at Wal-Mart who are using those electric carts, look at how those people actually get treated. The mentality is always, "look at this piece of $***, getting so fat that they can barely walk." But unless you KNOW the person, how do you know that they weren't already disabled? I know that you weren't really guilty of that, so I'm not trying to criticize you personally. But how often is it really possible to look at a total stranger and somehow know that they didn't have some pre-existing disability which then contributed heavily to them becoming obese? You don't know unless you personally know the person, but that doesn't stop people from looking at an obese stranger and treating them like $*** regardless.

So... are most of you guys posting here fat, or just playing the PC card?m25105

I'm 5'11" and weigh about 140. I'm quite active though, not with sports, but I do a lot of work in my yard and my parents yard. I will walk to town (2 miles) instead of driving if the weather isn't bad and I'm not going to be buying groceries. I have a typical deep south diet which is to say not too healthy, but I don't go for heaping portions.

Everyone around me save a few people are obese. They complain about it, then eat a whole bag of Doritos, a 2 liter and some dollar menu fast food while watching 4-5 hours of TV. They take their car around the corner (quarter mile, less for some) to get bread and milk at the convenience store. Some even drive their cars to the end of their driveways (typically about 80 yards or so) to check their mailbox, then drive right back up to the house.

For the vast majority of people, their weight is their fault because they're lazy.

Do I have a right to complain? As long as my insurance premiums cover their fat ass, you bet your chips and soda I have a right to complain.

Lazy fvckers.

[QUOTE="tenaka2"]Don't be like that, I was talking about people without disability that leave themselves go to the extent that they cannot walk.MrGeezer
As I said I am a chubby chaser, big people are my thing.

The only thing that bothers me is that it's looked down on to make fun of someone being fat but it's okay for a fat person to tear a skinny person apart.

I'm pretty sure more people take the piss out of fat people than skinny.

[QUOTE="princeofshapeir"]

The growth of this "fat acceptance" culture in America leaves me legitimately confused.

tenaka2

You are a hater and haters gota hate. I hope this explains it for you.

No, fat people just don't want to admit that it's their own fault, and people are calling them on it.

I agree, I don't have sympathy for people that get so big they cannot walk, no need to do that to your body.

MrGeezer
Has anyone considered the possibility that some people get fat because they have trouble getting around? Like, rather than immobility being caused by obesity, the obesity is caused by immobility.

If the reason they can't get around is because of the fat, that doesn't count :P

Obesity is more than aesthetics. It's an indicator of a dangerous and disgusting lifestyle. It tells a person that you let immediate gratification dictate your life choices.princeofshapeir

So what? They can do whatever the F they want and nobody should judge them, right?

Not accepting someone because of their looks is hilarious coming from an Obama supporter...

Skin Colour is NOT the same as obesity, jesus christ people.
