FEMA tells the firefighters to stand down. texas set to roast

today FEMA has once again "interveened" in a natural disater set to happen in a US state. 1st it was katrina now the texas wildfires. the texas national guard currently deployed overseas isnt there leaving the firefighters and volunteer firefighters and sherif departments and other such groups to fight it. up till today. now any and all firecrews have been told to stand down until FEMA gets set up. ya knw the same group that did such a great job helping to control new orleans :roll:

fema is a slow moving system. it does nothing for the ability to do anything productive for emergency crews. they have in fact made things worse.

im not making this up here, wish i was. texas your effectively done for, nless FEMA stops being counter productive or fire crews give them the international symbol of displeasure and get back to work. as a person that yearly worries about rivers swelling and flooding.. im rooting for you.

Because that's how it is right now. Not even talking about Austin here, a town a few miles from Austin has lost more than 1000 homes.

The TC is using the language of The National Equiror unfortunately, but I don't think it's a stretch that Austin is going to have some serious damage if the fire spreads there. In fact, I'm surprised a wildfire hasn't started there on its own. I was at my boss' house in Austin a short time ago, and the grass was as dry as I've ever seen it, and had a smell like it was on fire already. I thought we had it bad in Houston, but it's nowhere near as bad as it was there.

well id expect you to be able to tell me what state austin is in. its not like tinyville or w/e spot that nobodies heard of before. hence why i called it infamous. if your taking a pot shot at my wording go right ahead.. but i think you should at least open your mind to the possibility of bad things getting worse. and a very well known city suffering as a result.

Destruction is good for business within communities that have the money to rebuild. It stimulates economies better than most other alternative methods.UniverseIX

There is no way you can really state that with certainty. Money gets poured into community in situations like this to replace damage to existing wealth. That doesn't automatically turn into an investment boon that grows beyond the loss experienced. Stop being so flippant about something like this with your assumptions.

It's also not going to prevent them from losing everything. My co-worker has been evacuated from Bastrop, and though he isn't for certain because all he has is general reports on the area around his home, he's relatively sure his home is one of the hundreds that no longer exists.

Like Ron Paul said. FEMA certainly is worthless. In New Orleans it was various charity and church groups who did most of the philanthropy, not the tax-funded cesspool that is FEMA. Shame they're getting in the way again, but is it really a surprise? Slow, incompetent government workers from several states away are brought in and tell locals to stand down. It's only typical that they would be completely ineffective...

Here's hoping I'm wrong and they redeem themself for the sake of the people living there.
