I find it extremely odd how Firefox gets flak for the fast release recycle but nobody ever faults Chrome for it. :?Hexagon_777
I can't as I just started using it to be fair.

Chrome maintains its stability and compatitbily. Its also not intrusive about updates.

I will never use Chrome until they add this button

I depend too much on Bookmarks for me to do away with this.

But there is a bookmark button under the tool icon in Chrome (though this does take one more click to get to then the Firefox button). And there is a bookmarks bar option (though I think this is annoying).

So... Can you still save multiple tabs in a session when closing Firefox?

I downloaded and looked around and it doesn't look like it. ;__;

How is Firefox intrusive about updates? Set it to update automatically. The 11 extensions I have installed are also all compatible. These must be some obscure extensions that people are having issues with.

They have 7 ready to go then why only update with 6? Either way with FF 5 I was getting around 600k memory leak and the longer I used FF the worse it got.

Firefox 7 should be in the beta channel now I believe. We have one or two users in this thread who already use it, though.

They could never seem to fix the crashing problem and the speed is just terrible compared to other browsers.

Chrome has the option to show the bookmarks tab which has the drop down bookmarks... and the star in the web address bar is how you mark a page. So whats your excuse?

It's just a drop down menu for your bookmarks settled nicely next to the address bar and thus doesn't take up an entire bar. If you still want a bookmarks bar, you can get that too.

Yeah, I don't want the bar. There's an add-on button in Chrome that toggles it but it's not the same.

I just don't understand why Chrome doesn't have it. Seems standard among IE and Opera.

Well, when upgrading to Firefox 6, I noticed that the Norton Toolbar was incompatible with FF6. Fortunately I ran a Norton LiveUpdate to make the Toolbar compatible again via restart. Also, the Java Console was incompatible with FF6, so I installed the Add-On Compatibility Reporter and made the Java Console compatible again by clicking on "Compatibility" and "This add-on still works", and it now works properly again. This is weird, but at least FF6 is running smoothly so far.

I think that Mozilla needs to go back to the Firefox 3.x version numbering style. The amount of changes between 4-6 aren't visible to the average user. The only reason that Chrome is able to get away with releasing new versions often is because they don't make a big deal about it. It even updates in the background.

With Mozilla's old numbering scheme, whenever they released a new whole number version 2 to 3, 3 to 4, there were big changes. Now they are just minor.

That's like tying your shoes each time you put on your shoes, instead of just leaving em tied. You spend so much time doing it one way and suddenly there's an extra step is always a poop idea.

Ugh. hopefully they can fix the problems the last two versions had. Random freezing, tabs messes up, yahoo toolbar does not update til you restart browser, flash support is mediocre, and now when I close my browser, it doesn't allow me to save multiple tabs for the next time I open firefox up (I think there's a way to enable that feature, but I forgot how....). Really thinking about going to chrome. The only reason I haven't already is because I don't feel like customizing a browser all over again and firefox has all my passwords saved. But I'll make that jump if nothing improves....

But I do untie my sneakers every time I take them off and retie them when I put them back on. Maybe that is why I don't understand this complaint. :P

But the reason I like Chrome so far is because it doesn't have all those extra buttons. It just looks so nice and uncluttered and has a simple consistent color scheme, and to me the half a second it takes for one extra move of the mouse is worth that. Though admittedly I would go back to Firefox if it would stop freezing on my laptop all the time.

Those saying bad things about it (security wise) have no idea what the hell they are talking about. And going back to IE8 would be a very stupid desicion.

Well I can say that I was having problems after I upgraded to IE9 and when I called HP to get tech support, they told me that IE9 has problems and recommended I downgrade back to IE8. Ever since then, I haven't had any problems. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but the tech support rep seemed to know what he was talking about. I am running Windows 7 if that makes any difference.

I'll download 6 soon then! :)

Don't do it! Firefox became Google Chrome one it hit 4.

EDIT: it's still better than Chrome though.

4 came out late spring. This is going to surprise a lot, but on the plus side I haven't gotten Firefox yet so when I get a PC that can actually run it, it's going to be a fun day.

[QUOTE="bbkkristian"]Is there any REAL improvement, or just another useless update? gmaster456
Its basically firefox 4.2. This fast release stuff is BS. Its the reason they are loosing market share. Business don't want to waste the time or reasources to deploy software that will be outdated and abandoned in a couple weeks.

If you're thinking Firefox is losing (not loosing) market share to Chrome due to rapid releases, think again. Google came up with the whole concept in the first place. And they're using the exact same release schedule (every 6 weeks).

I'll stick with IE9

gmaster456

Have fun with your viruses.

You do realize IE is the most secure browser out there currently don't you?

http://technolog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/08/16/7387005-internet-explorer-9-safest-web-browser.

What a surprise, a study funded by Microsoft shows that Microsoft is far superior to all others.

I've actually heard quite a few good things about IE9, so I'm not insulting it, just this "study".
