[QUOTE="Ace6301"]Surprising lack of "Chief F*ckface" in this thread. Given the treatment of Manning by various OT conservatives I'm surprised this man hasn't gotten any insults over going against the governments wishes in regards to leaking information.Ace6301

I'm embarrassed to so I don't know who you're referring to. :(

I just remember when the wikileaks thing was a big time topic here and various posters were calling Manning Private F*ckface and whatnot because he had leaked government information. While I doubt anyone here has any insight into what exactly the contents of the book are there's usually at least one person who jumps the gun and insults the subject before knowing what exactly they've told/said.

Oh, ok. Thanks.

Is it really that important for us to know the guy's real name?

Why release that information? How does that positively help anyone?

And if doesn't help that OTHER news sites are calling Fox News on it, but all they're doing is spreading his information more..

I don't know much about American politics.

But recently I stumbled upon some fox news videos on youtube and decided to check out what the fuzz was about. All I have to say is that it's downright laughable, they are so biased it's not even funny...

And what's the deal with that Bill O'Reilly guy ? He's just sick in the head. I've seen him defending torture, calling Hawkins a fascist, yelling at a kid who's father died in the Twin tours, just because that kid was against the war.

That guy has issues.

Aren't you like 30? And yet you're still a Republican? Me thinks too much of that beer screwed up your brain cells.

Yes lets attack someone for having a different political belief then you and for no other reason, that's certainly the mature and sensible thing to do to show you are someone people should listen to.

Though at least I can be assured now that low intelligence is something anyone can have regardless of whether they are Republicans or Democrats.

The republicans in the U.S. are insane. And if you think the republicans and democrats are on equal footing, then you're not exactly all that bright.

Unsure how I feel about him getting some gain out of making a book about operations while in the service of the U.S. military. I think once he opened that door his privacy is secondary to the people who will read this book ability to do their own research on whats presented. I see no problem with his identity being opened up to the public. I figure his comrades identity are as compromised as his ability to describe them for his payout.

There wasn't anything in the Wikileaks releases that actually put anyone in danger. This does. Big difference there. this isn't just some guy who wrote a book, he was involved in the bin Laden raid. Releasing his name to the public potentially makes him and his family targets for extremists who were sympathetic to bin Laden.

Now, imagine you were a Navy Seal in the Osama Bin Laden raid and thousands of Islamic Extemsists wanted to find and kill you...

Wikileaks did release people's information to the public. I don't think any within the U.S. however. Still. This retired seal followed the money trail and its biting him in the behind. People will read this and unless the U.S. goverment confirms/denies things specifically then it can be a biased account. Things this person says could be pushing the truth just to rattle some cages. People will want to know who he is. Why is he no longer a seal and if he might have any reason to write anything with a less than honorable motive. I don't think him having a family shields him from consenquences of writing such a book. It's a very high profile and controversial event.

Wikileaks leaked classified government documents, Fox News released (I wouldn't even call it a leak) public information of the name of a Navy Seal who wrote a book.

Wikileaks was critisised because it endagered intelligence operatives security, as well as destroyed some countries' international relations with the USA, and the OP says that while Fox News was against the Wikileaks saga based on this, it was totally up for disclosing the name of a SEAL Team Six operative involved in the Bin Laden raid, which makes him a target for revenge attacks as well as privacy invasion. My stance is, if an author decides to publish under a pseudonym, the press should respect his decision and not disclose his name.

What's ironic is that the same reporter who released his identity wrote an article last year about how important privacy was for SEAL Team 6 going forward after the Bin Laden raid.

Based on the fact that this issue is not a liberal vs. conservative issue yet liberals seem instantly antagonistic. I believe this is because of the source and not the substance.

The source was being hypocritical so in a way you are right but I definitely wouldn't go as far to say as Liberals would be happy if it was reported by someone else. I'd be upset regardless because I want to read this man's book.

- Wikileaks didn't realase any information that put anyone in any danger. Simply having personal information public does not endanger someone in and of itself. Someone's identity being concealed because that knowledge being public could endanger them is entirely different.

- So you think it's fair that he or his family might now be put in danger just because he decided to write a book?

Wow, some of you guys make judgements too fast...this is uncalled for imo and the reporter should be fired.

When you're 18, you make dumb choices, like voting Democrat.

You're a Bosniak, right? I remember hearing that. Why do you support Republicans so much? o.o

Wasn't it Clinton that helped stop Muslim genocide in Balkan wars? I don't think it's a good idea for a Muslim to be on the right wing platform of a Christian-dominated country...

If he's Muslim and a Republican don't hate on him for it dude. Muslim immigrants are generally more hardworking than other immigrant groups and have conservative values...being a Muslim and a Republican aren't mutually exclusive....
