I wonder if this was done by a different news station if there would be such an obvious partisan response. This is definitely a neat experience in herd behavior.DaBrainzHad the news station in question bashed Wikileaks in the same manner as Fox has I would say the exact same thing. I care quite a bit more for the privacy and rights of a citizen than I do for the privacy and rights of a massive organization of people working to keep secrets from the people they're sworn to serve. I do think the releasing of military documents of operations that had not yet happened in regards to the wikileaks ordeal was pretty tactless and could have put lives at risk. I don't see this as too different than that though.
I have not read the book so I can't really say if he should be up on charges but to release his name and put a operators life in danger for head lines is shameful and dangerous to his life and is family. While Americans are living the good life he was putting his life on the line in service to his country. You have no idea how hard he worked and what he went though to serve his country. I will say that he was stupid to do this just to make money. He has lived and been lucky to be in good health by the grace of GOD after all the action. There will always be people that never put on the uniform trying to make a buck off the stories of operators.
You should be smart and keep your pie hole shut.
Sure like this guy's name was going to stay private, rigggght. Like no one else would be digging to find out who it is. I mean what do you expect? This book will probably be a best seller and if you honestly think his name would never be released at some point you are being completely naive.

The identity of Deepthroat remained a secret for more than three decades and only released once the man, Mark Felt, outed himself as Deepthroat.

What's wrong with just wanting to make money? You must be naive because everyone joins the military to get some sort of benefit from it and not for imaginary concepts like "honour".I have not read the book so I can't really say if he should be up on charges but to release his name and put a operators life in danger for head lines is shameful and dangerous to his life and is family. Nothing wrong with wanting to make money. Still wrong that he is putting the operator at risk though. And also wrong for a news source to reveal the Seal's name. Both at fault.
Sad to be 30 and not have critical thinking skills. What's even more sad is you keep posting the wrong age. It's sad that you're both still "arguing." I have you both beat.[QUOTE="l4dak47"][QUOTE="Pirate700"]Sad to be 18 and not have people skills yet.

Right, because God forbid the public should ever know the whole truth about an historic event that has had, at the very least, an indirect effect on every living person on earth...He should know better if he did leak any sensitive info I hope he gets locked up. Some things you just take to your grave. If you must talk you have your brothers in arms.

- Wikileaks didn't realase any information that put anyone in any danger. Simply having personal information public does not endanger someone in and of itself. Someone's identity being concealed because that knowledge being public could endanger them is entirely different.
- So you think it's fair that he or his family might now be put in danger just because he decided to write a book?
a) They've released information as to the addresses etc of people affiliated with controversial groups associated with violence and such. So yes they did. BNP is one. Lets not mince words here and just forgo the usual BS and agree to disagree I guess? b) Hell yes. He is part of that family. He decides to write a book on a very high profile event that was essentially an assassination? If he has decided that it was worth putting his family in danger over some money then why does the rest of the world need to pick up the slack? No one here is saying that we hope his family gets hurts. All any few are saying is that this is a consenquence. A rational one. A common sense one. A consenquence a damn ex seal should understand. That anyone writing anything on this not as a proposed fanfic but as an actual the dealer of death would garner great efforts to find who they were? Especially as outside the goverment channels and solely through the private sector ones?Aren't you like 30? And yet you're still a Republican? Wasn't it Clinton that helped stop Muslim genocide in Balkan wars? I don't think it's a good idea for a Muslim to be on the right wing platform of a Christian-dominated country...
Yeah he did. So did the Republican led congress that convinced him. I voted for Clinton, and I didn't vote for Bush neither term. Also, why should I support a party that has socialist left wing ideals, that are reminiscent of the same government responsible for the genocide of my people. I disagree with Christians, but they're not trying to suppress me, the left does. Leftism turns everything upside down. Christians helped me come to this country knowing I was Muslim. OMG, the horror. I am a true liberal. Our country was conservative on social issues, and liberal on everything else. Look which party supports gay marriage, less religious freedom, more illegal immigration, socialist policies, and authoritarian laws restricting freedoms, and centralized government economic plan of spend and expand. Which party protects murderers from death row, but have no problem with killing a fetus? The only problem I have with Republicans are current wars. They need to end.supports gay marriage

Doesn't make sense to you maybe. Makes perfect sense to me to treat them like everyone else, except to support their efforts to change the fabric of society on it's head. For example, I am pro choice, but I would NEVER, consider an abortion to be an option unless it's rape, incest, or life threatening to the mother. There is such thing as a gray area. A: And were these protected identities? Does associating with the British National Party somehow entitle one to anonymity? Is one's life endanger by associating with the BNP?
B: So do you feel that the federal witness protection program should publically release the assumed name and current whereabouts of former FBI agent Joseph Pistone, a.k.a. "Donnie Brasco" (you may have read his book or, more likely, seen the movie with Johnny Depp and Al Pachino)?
