It's so cold in this thread...

GazaAli
yea, its unbelievably cold. At least you would think about the kind of conditions these people go through to be pushed to do something like this.
Are you still there Gaza?themajormayor
and the overall unemployment rate is 30%, though among youth, its more like 70%.

I was joking. Anyway. Hal t3rifu an habibiti fatat falistini? :)

really kind of flabbergasted by some of the responses on here...

seriously you guys living in the West need to realize fast and understand that your 'poverty' line is at least two exponential points (or more) higher then most of the rest of the world. Apparently in Milwaukee being under the 'poverty' line is owning 2 cars, multiple TV's, computers and other electronics. poverty in most of the rest of the world means literally having to live in a shack with no hope of finding a job to support your family and possibly your children.

and no this is not a Darwin award, fvck you for thinking that. It's a cry of desperation, not stupidity. It is a desperate situation over there for many people. Many of them can't simply wait around for white man's burden to kick in or Hamas to roll over and die.

We always lament when people commit suicide. Think about it, situation is so bad that your willing to set yourself alight, to try to bring dire attention to a problem within the society. Without trying to directly physically harm anyone else.So rather then lament that someone put themselves through enormous pain and death to get a message across. what they'll get in response is laughs and darwin award jokes?

fvck you...

SaudiFury

The living conditions in some parts of Gaza are like 3rd world countries and many of their meals comes from donations from other countries or charities (Israel donates food and supplies on a regular basis). I feel bad for the kids family and it is sad news, like I said.

However I still believe Israel has the right to exist and they have to ensure the safety of civilians. I believe that peace is possible, but it won't be easy. Even within Israel it's self there is conflict. We Jews do not agree on much and often argue, in Israel there is a growing conflict between the strict Orthodox Jews and the Secular non religious Jews.

I believe that education is the best way to secure peace in the region. But Israel has every right to exist and I do not like it when people say differently. It is not ok for Hamas and Hezbolla to fire rockets at civilians.

I'd talk to go a guy who lives in Gaza, of which we happen to have one :D Also this isn't about you, the Jews, or the argument for Israel's right to exist.

*sigh* There are people in the west that have no homes. They eat out of dumpsters. They have mental and health problems. They have addictions. You seem to not understand that poverty does exist in the west. Pity parties are not becoming. If you think life is tough.....setting oneself on fire is NOT the solution.

You're missing the point. Look at the overall prospects of someone in poverty in a developed nation with an established welfare system, or infrastructure that can actively work to provide support to an individual or family, and areas where this is completely absent through wider economic or lack of said infrastructure. I'm not saying that one kind of poverty is better than the other, but it's not hard to see that a wider situation can be effected by the circumstances and situation of the place that you're living in. Homeless people do live everywhere, but does a homeless person in Gaza have the same access to government services or free healthcare that someone in the United Kingdom has? Does infrastructure exist to help pull people out of a cycle (however efficient)? You can't say that the prospects of a poverty stricken family in sub saharan africa are the same as someone in a western country with the means to provide help or services.

I actually tried to learn French , but I pretty much forgot everything very quickly after learning it. the only languages I can actually claim to speak well are Hebrew and English.

No I'm not missing the point. It's an excuse. My point is that TO THE PERSON INVOLVED poverty is poverty. A poor person in Gaza is poor. A poor person in Africa is poor. A poor person in the west is poor. It does not make their poverty any better to say that x people in the west have it better than someone in poverty elsewhere. Not all poor people have services or help. Some fall in the cracks.

Japanese..... one hell of a language to learn , though I have to say its appealing. funny thing about Arabic is that there are probably around 5 or 6 people in my family who could teach me Arabic, (and native Arabic too) , never took the opportunity though, kinda regret it.

"(Israel donates food and supplies on a regular basis)" lol fvck you.

It is true. Israel gives the Gaza 10 million dollars each month as aid. Gaza just lies about it.

Palestinians expose Gaza Flotilla lies about food aid and - YouTube

Here is more proof. Read http://www.mfa.gov.il/MFA/HumanitarianAi

Over 70% of Gaza electricity power comes from Israel. And Israel gives them medical treatment for free.

See here is more:

IDF sends 14,000 tons of aid to Gaza - JPost - Israel

Israel gives fuel to UN aid agency in Gaza - Israel News, Ynetnews

Israel takes care of people. But all people in Gaza should have better living conditions. You and I can at least see eye to eye on this.

I graduated 1 and a half year ago and I have been since struggling to get a job, in vain.

If I recall correctly TehFuneral is from Dubai, and from what I've read from him it sound like he and his family are pretty well off.

[QUOTE="themajormayor"][QUOTE="Darkman2007"][QUOTE="themajormayor"] From what I've heard it's a pretty easy language actually, maybe cause it's artificial in a sense. But as I said for me personally it's easier than for the swedes since I've grown up hearing it and now with the arabic. We we're comparing it and it's so similar in both vocabulary and grammar

artificial? what do you mean?

I mean since they made the old language practical in the modern world they had to invent alot of stuff right?

in way youre right, the language was more or less in a freezer for about 1800 years, like Hertzl said, no one could ask for a train ticket in that language. you could argue however that really what happened was that the language did in 100 years, what most languages had to do in hundreds, a fast track to modernisation..

[QUOTE="GazaAli"][QUOTE="Darkman2007"][QUOTE="GazaAli"] I wish I know French, I'd be unstoppable.

Arabic and English here. I came close to actually speaking Japanese, then I dropped it... I actually tried to learn French , but I pretty much forgot everything very quickly after learning it. the only languages I can actually claim to speak well are Hebrew and English.

Arabic, English and probably 65% of French here. Im hoping to learn Mandarin as well if Im going to be doing business in China (hopefully)

i have no idea why you guys want the jews out of there.

the entire middle east would fall upon itself like a pack of rabid dogs if there was not the jews and isreal to focus the hate on.

you are lucky to have a common enemy to keep the attention on.

[QUOTE="GazaAli"][QUOTE="ShadowMoses900"]

ShadowMoses900

We do business with Israel, our economy is tied with them simply because they control all access to Palestinian territories, except for Rafah. all of what you listed we pay for it, so your point is invalid.

I know what your going through. Not personally, but I speak with my cousins in Iraq all the time and I can hear the hopelessness in their voices. I actually do fear for what they might do either to themselves or if they go into crime (which is rather lucrative in Iraq).

I picked up many bad habits in this 1 and half year including smoking. I never thought I'd ever smoke, and I'm even more open to other sh!t. I hope things will work out for me, I had high hopes for myself, don't want to see myself diminishes into oblivion.

Alright fine, Im sorry, you're right. Reforming Iraq, one of the most corrupt countries in the world which has gone through decades of war with millions killed, which is owned by Iran, where political reformers are killed all the time....is an easy task. Ill call my cousins now and tell them to start a protest.

I think hes trying to tell you that reform is not as easy as it is in the US. Iraq is a very fragmented country, along ethinc, religious and even tribal lines, rulling a country like this, and holding it together is hard enough , let alone implementing things since sometimes people do what they want.
