I think prevent would have been a better word.

If you feel youneed protection from porn,I doubt you'reviewing it in the first place. it's not like it's going to pull a "The Ring" moment, climb out of the t.v, and scare you to death.

Porn is taken too seriously, which in short means its being taken out of context. Social rules concerning sex are too strict, so there must be some release. Porn is a viable one and, according to sales, damn necessary since its generating billions of dollars every year.

What actually bothers me about the "degrading to women" sort of argument in general is that it implies that somehow it's less degrading for a man to be in porn than a woman, which is rather stupid.
