Going To The Movies Alone - Why So Weird????

Ok, I'm 28 years old, and for the first time in my life I am considering going to a movie alone. I was out of town this weekend and didn't get a chance to see Batman, and everybody I know has either seen it already or has no intention of seeing it, and so I'm in a position I've never found myself in.

My first thought was I guess I'll wait till next weekend and make someone see it again, but dangit, I don't want to wait that long!! So my second thought was why don't I just go during the week sometime by myself? However, immediately I thought about all the weird looks I'm going to get in the theater, and especially from my friends and family when I tell them I went to a movie by myself. It really does kind of freak me out lol.

What the hell? Thoughts? Anybody ever gone to a movie by themselves? I didn't realize how weird it seemed till I considered actually doing it.

I would feel weird too. That said, I don't even pay attention to others anyway, so I wouldn't notice who was alone or whatever. Besides, it'll be busy in there, I imagine... you won't be isolated. :PSolidSnake35

Yeah, to be honest, I'm about 10% worried about weird looks at the movies and 90% weirded out about having to tell people I know that I went to a movie by myself. I just know they're all going to be like "What?? Ok...." lol.

I've never done it, only because I can't even drive lol.

But I probably wouldn't, just because I would feel pretty weird if I bumped into someone from school.

I will probably do it sooner or later though, some movies are too awesome to wait a week to see *hint hint*

eh I usually don't even go to the movies lol....I tend to wait until it comes out in Bluray (or DVD) or I rent it off netflix...I'm not really a movie theater type person...mainly because I like to watch movies alone so no one pisses me off while I watch the movie (getting up,walking in front of me,talking,etc)

I'll probably be going alone to go see it next weekend...or I might go with some of my friends...Even though I would much rather watch it alone...I just can't wait a couple of months to see the new batman =(

Its really not weird at all....specially when people are in such a rush to see this movie....most of my friends have already seen it.

Just go. Why is everyone so dependent on other people? "Like, OMG, I cant go if you dont go with me!!!!!" Just go by yourself. Ive seen people do it before and its not that weird.Tauruslink

I does feel weird, but trust me, it FEELS weird... nobody will give a damn about you being alone.

When I went (rarely, because when I'm alone I prefer to rent and see the movie on my 50" plasma and home theater anyways) I'd bring some beers in a backsack and enjoy the movie... just make sure you get there pretty much on time, not before, because the trailers and waiting time can be really long alone... or bring an Ipod.

EDIT: Or go to a drive-in place, that's cool.. you get to bring your beer/beverages/food from home and enjoy 2 movies for the price of one basically...
