I was going to say Brick or City of God, but it seems a lot of people have seen those. I officially have one that no one here has mentioned: Once. It's the best reviewed movie of 2007 (98% on Rottentomatoes), yet almost no one has heard of it. It's probably my favorite movie of all time. Great music, a non-cliche'd love story, good acting...even if you hate romances (like I do, except for a select few like Eternal Sunshine and the two I'm about to mention), it's one of those movies that will probably win you over by the time the credits roll.

Two other movies that no one talks about that are really similar to Once are Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. Both movies are essentially two people walking around and talking, but they are great. Before Sunset is probably the best sequel I've ever seen, and it's actually better than the original.

Figures, I usually hate romance movies and the three movies I mention are all technically romances haha.

Once just came out on DVD, so I'll probably rent it sometime...all the good movies are starting to be released, so I'll be busy the next month or so. :P

il posto (1962) - new wave/late italian neorealist film. ermano olmi made this masterpiece during his off days from shooting documentaries. one of the funniest movies i've ever seen.

metropolitan (1990) - wes anderson before wes anderson.

war and peace (1967) - 8 hours long, the most expensive movie EVER made, and considered the best, by some.

simon of the desert (1965) - luis bunuel lost funding for this film, half way into shooting so it is only 40 minutes long.

the gleaners and i (2000) - the best documentary i've ever seen.

dark days (2000) - also a great documentary.

[QUOTE="maccer101"]Brick, a great movie, one of my faves, might be a bit low impact for some people hear though, from the movies being listedB05T0N

like i said, low impact. Btw, Brick does NOT contain the fallowing: high octane gun battles and chases, cars that transform into robots, explicit sex scenes

unfortunately, it does contain a good story, good acting, damn!

Brick sucked balls. :|

Watch City of God

Brick was too Mundane IMO, Tried too damn hard to be noir.

because it is a noir movie?

hahahhahah it is a noir. What a ridiculous comment by A_New_Life. LOLOLOL

You knew thats not what I meant/

Brick was chliche as a hell...

Well excuse me for having an opinion about a crappy movie.:|

brick was not quite a parody of a noir, but it was like "recess." it was about a bunch of kids trying to emulate their perception of adults. the humor in brick comes from it "trying too hard to be a noir" and following the cliches.

I'll say Gattaca, my most favourite movie of all-time. I even wrote a review about it on Epinions - check it out HERETheMadGamer
Very nice movie. Its actually happening in Britain. I couple won in courtthe right to have their little babes(aka embryos) tested to see which is more susceptable to a heart malformation.
