Ignorance is bliss eh?

Well before Orlando comes in here, I'll post some good rap lyrics, just so you can see how wrong you guys are.

*lyrics*

DisturbedChild7

at the quitters anthem i thought of Good Charlotte, lol. and that ending, i read that and then saw your sig, so the visual was actually better than the lyrics. plus, ive heard rock songs all address things like that

They were asking for lyrics that weren't about women, overuse of swearing, ect..

So I delivered. Are there better lyrics out there? Yeah, but this blows a lot of rock lyrics that I've heard out of the water too.

If you can't understand that then you need to go back to english class.

'Nuff said.

And the lyrics are talking about the state of rap as of now, and how this artist is not impressed by it. Go back and actually read it.

this one turns to shame and fame and what not.

you sound hollow, this upsets me.
you didn't always...
"you can tell a lot about a man from the sound of his music."
yours is hollow sounding,
frankly, you've become suckers.

this is a dissong, dissong absolute
because you can't respect me
because i can't respect you.

this is a quitter's anthem,
this is why you should quit,
because you've cheated and ate where you ****

all my good people you know who you are,
and all you lazy lawyers and hookers
oughta know damn well how something awful scars.

so...i rap with a passion and stock rap at a record store.
you...make me embarrassed for both, you fell on your sword.
(look out now)

shove that gun up your ass, shove that gun up your ass,
shove that gun up your ass. you're as good as dead.

wo'es me...my rotting tape collection be still my beating heart,
now i buy one new rap cd six months apart.

from underground to mainstream,
pioneers to fireplace rap,
this is the voice of our age, not the skin off your back.

come see me, i'll serve you, give you free music and step.
"it was nothing, i did it just to save our rep."

"walk into the fact"
"you're blind from the fire"
"turn a blind eye"
the lawyer and the hooker...

·masogany
·adultery
·homophobia
·thing tug
how far into the fire can you pour out blood (love).

WildLIkeChild

I don't think Orlando would like you taking his kills, uh I mean owning his rap haters.

[QUOTE="SupraGT"]Hip Hop doesn't suck. You should have directed this thread to commercial rap instead of rap in general. Hip Hop contains the most creative lyrics out of any genre of music, esp rock. Hopefully the decline in sales is a wake up call for those commerical rappers and hopefully they will go back to the real roots. But, I highly doubt that will happen.DisturbedChild7

no :| at least not the way i see it. perhaps you could post a creative hip hop songs lyrics, and a rock songs lyricsyou think is creative

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtftuSHnWVY

creative

and this is one of the few rock songs i like

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUod3jGQt0U

i knew that, its just these lyrics im posting are really good, and an original issue was no good rock lyrics

As you walk the path of least resistance
Is it as simple as you claim it to be?
Your tongue, your eyes
Your lies, they do decieve you

I stand firm in my solidarity
The path I walk, I walk it with my own resolve
When darkness falls we are reborn
Our dream since the fall of man
We are reborn

My beliefs are not antiquated
We are the hope
Silence them all with not just words
Let resolution be our voice

I stand firm in my solidarity
The path I walk, I walk it with my own resolve
When darkness falls we are reborn
Our dream since the fall of man
We are reborn

We are the remnant
We the remnant will silence them all
We are the faithful
We the faithful will silence them all

When darkness falls we are reborn
Our dream since the fall of man
We are reborn

No more understandable than the lyrics I posted.

Maybe you should give them a read, they seem to use about as good as grammar as you, if not better.

Haha I just finished watching this video entited "death to rap" or something on Youtube. You guys should check it out. But yeah I gotta say, I don't think it's easy to turn someone from a rap-liker to a better person. Once someone thinks in these violent, useless, and rebellious thoughts, you can't really bring them back. I think the culture will still be around even though the music dies out.

I'd also like to see the sale of shirts going down to the knees stop, and all rap music from internet music stores. I wonder what would happen then.

I hate rap and hip hop. While there are a few talented artist (Missy Elliot comes to mind,) it not about the actual music, its the whole gansta culture that goes with it. It may sound stupid but I feel that rap is ruining scocety. Just drive turn on MTV. Rappers like 50 Cent have developed this subculture where your only goal is to get rich, do drugs, and have sex with as many women as possible. They look down upon educated people. Their whole state of mind is selfishness. Just watch an episode of Cribs. Songs like "This is Why I'm Hot" and "Party Like a Rockstar" put these ideas in kids heads that its all about them and getting rich instead of helping your fellow human beings. Ask any rapper what they think about the genocide in Darfur or illegal wiretapping. They don't care about those kind of issues. They care about smacking hoes. Not to mention destroying the English language with Eubonics.

But there is hope. Rap sales have dropped 44% since 2000. Hopefully this continues and this horrible subculture disappears and people start caring more about each other than money. (Though, that ain't likley)

[QUOTE="metallica_fan42"]Although I'm not a fan of the genre, why should I be happy about this? Just because a genre's sales are sliding, doesn't mean it's going to disappear. Why can't you just let people listen to what they want. No reason to get excited over a stupid thing like this.Nickman71

Its not about the music, its the stuff the music represents. All mainstream rap values is sex and money. And kids are drawn into. I recently read a story about an upperclass suburban school were the black students had on average 20% lower grades than white kids, even though all the kids were in the same economic bracket. The black kids parents brought in a (black) education analyst who studied the kids in the school for a year. He found that the black kids considered not adopting this gangsta made you "white" and therefore uncool. Any black student who got good grades was either shunned by their black friends or pressured into this culture.

Dude SHUT UP, I hate it when ANYBODY hates a music of ANY genre because, it sets a bad image for the kids, let me just say that if any kid who is easily manipulated by music that is 3 minutes long(or music for that matter) are a lost hope and are not worth caring about when it comes to things like free will.Sex and money, last time I checked those are GOOD its just that it is rapped about ALL the time these days.

I have no problem with Rap music. I even listen to artists such as Nas, Kanye West, Eminem. I just hate all those wannabe gangster kids.

[QUOTE="cool_baller"]I think someone here might be a racist and can't stand black people being in a position of powerBlood-Scribe

Or maybe rap music just sucks. How about we go with that?

To generalize a genre like that is very narrow minded.

Sex and money, last time I checked those are GOOD its just that it is rapped about ALL the time these days.

newhenpal

Of course, materialistic gains and wants are wonderful messages, as well as selfishness and bigotry. Especially when its rapped about ALL the time, it shows how far humanity has advanced.

/endsarcasm

IMO, Mainstream rap would be so much better if it had actually meaningful messages behind the lyrics.

I'm sure some of it does, it's just cleverly hidden behind the cussing, sex, half-naked women, gold chains, metal teeth, "pimped out" cars, sticking it to "the Man," guns, stealing, cheating, and drugs.:)

You want to know how desperate Rappers are getting to try to promote their CD's?

T.I.'s next single, coming conviently right in time for the football season

Kanye West and 50 Cent have to place their albums on the same day (September 11th irony much) so it will be looked at as a competition for their albums to even be noticed.

When rappers have to promote their albums around current events, you know somethings wrong:lol:

T.I. has already gone platinum, and do you know what album was number 1 last week? damn High School Musical 2, that is when you know something has gone wrong.

Any musician that puts image before material, i.e. form before function, is never going to produce anything worthwhile.
