[QUOTE="whipassmt"][QUOTE="Abbeten"] I'm not sure that capturing those demographics would be worth giving up the Hispanic block. TheWalkingGhost
But I think as Hispanics assimilate and become more upwardly mobile they may begin to slip away from the Democrats. Blacks haven't. Issues that's what!
Cuban Americans, many of them are well to do and well off and tends to vote Republicans....In normal times...This year, 49%, a majority voted for Obama and teh Dems instead. Why? It's called imigration reform....If Republicans farts on immigration reforms again, they can probably kiss the Latino vote goodbye for good this time!
Same with me. As Asian-Americans, we are well to do also and SHOULD be, key word on should be voting Republicans. But me, my family and my friends all voted Dems. Why? As one of my friend said, the REpubs and their social stance scare the crap out of me!
There is an old saying, if you are not a liberal by the age 20, you are without a heart. If you are not a conservative by age 40, then you are without a brain. AFter the election, when some nutter tried to shove that down our throats threatening, "If you are not a republican by age 40, then go and kill yourself!". Someone responded, "In this day and age, if you are indeed a republican by age 40, then you are INDEED without a brain!" After the nutter expended himself in rage, the guy came back and said, "And this is why! We will not vote for a party that had lost its soul, kicked its compassion to the curb side and ripped out its heart!" And that in all its glory, highlights the problem Republican faces today! Simply put, there message, espcially socially, is so far gone to the right, it's simply scaring people, some of whom may want to vote for them, to the left. It's like all these women on Facebook pages I've seen. "I would like to vote for Romney, but unfortunately, I have a vag"....I wonder why....**cough cough** Atkins and Murdock and the rest of the Republicans who opened their mouths and caught "foot n' mouth diesease!"
