[QUOTE="Abbeten"][QUOTE="whipassmt"] he's got better hair than Romney too. Well maybe, it's a tossup, both have nice hair. Mitt's got the distinguished look and Newt's got that nice puff.

Laihendi

what mitt romney has the best hair of any politician alive and i will fight you for saying different

His hair is ugly. Scott Brown has nice hair. Scott Brown has nice everything.

Romney's hair's not ugly! Are you saying Scott Brown has a nice ass? Brown def got better hair than Elizabeth Warren, that's for damn sure.

Oh and Romney may have lost the election, but he still got more money than Obama, and smaller ears too! And Paul Ryan got more hair than Biden! So the democrats can stick that in their pipe (in Elizabeth Warren's case her peace pipe) and smoke it!

I don't know but it makes me laugh. I can't actually find a picture of Scott Brown's butt, but everything looks good from the front so it can't be too bad.

It's a wonder Republicans ever win when it's like one demographic group vs. any demographic group. How do they ever win anyway?

narlymech

It's called turnout and voting clout

For years, the whte, especially the white male voters turnout and clout is massive. When Clinton won in 1996, the last time a dem president won two terms, the white vote turnout was 88%, swamping every other group, making them miniscule in comparison.

Compare this to this year, white vote turnout dropped to 72%, a 16% drop in the intervening years. Meanwhile, minority, especially Latino votes have been gaining massive ground. By 2016, white vote will dip further to 70%. This is bad news for the Repubs, who's base consists of nothing but white voters, especially those that are 50 years or old, ie, people who are dying every single day.If the Dems grabs 35-40% of the white votes, plus their advantage with the minorties, then there is no ghost in hell of a chance for the Repubs to win anymore. Dem's have been carefully working on the new generation since the 9-'s. The repubs have been complacent until the demographics bomb exploded in their face...And now it might be too late cause what with half of their party is seems made up of either too far right nutters, religious crazies or tea drinkers, they can't move to the "liberal left" (aka, the center) without pissing off their base. Meanwhile, if they stick with their base, they will eventually die out, leaving them no where to go. Being stuck between a rock and a hard place can be a real Bistch huh?

Oh. So basically in a few weeks, the first Sunday of Advent will come which starts a new liturgical year. At least it's not a long while, the avatar is okay, but that guy in the sig is weird.

[QUOTE="nocoolnamejim"][QUOTE="Laihendi"][QUOTE="nocoolnamejim"] Democracy is the exact opposite of authoritarianism.

Majority rule is authority of the majority over the minority. Democracy is mob rule. As I have already pointed out, the rights of minority groups in this country are at the mercy of the voting majority.

Definition of authoritarian In a democracy people select their rulers periodically by exercising their right to vote. By definition, it is not authoritarian since they can toss their rulers out every election. There are checks and balances in our government intended to protect the minority from the majority. Certainly in a democracy if you are in the minority then sometimes you're going to end up with rulers that you didn't vote for, but that is not the same thing as a dictatorship...which is what authoritarianism is.

You should know that the dictionary is not where one goes to understand concepts. I don't agree with a lot of the right-libertarian stuff Laihendi has posted, but democracy is not the opposite of authoritarianism, In a purely democratic state, nothing stops the majority of people from killing the minority. Obviously, that doesn't happen in Western democracies, but this is a discussion about definitions. There are libertarian and authoritarian conceptions of democracy, this should be common knowledge.

Will not work.

It's not about race, it's about issues and agenda. Unfortunately, in many Latino eyes, republicans, especially on issues of immigration and health care, are damaged goods. I mean, just check out how Black Republicans did during the election, answer? Not Good...NOT GOOD AT ALL...Even with a Latino VP, the instant Rom made that "self deportation" comment, he singed his own death warrant, even if he does have a latino VP. This plus his meandering ways and flip flopping will make matter worse.

[QUOTE="whipassmt"]

[QUOTE="Abbeten"] I'm not sure that capturing those demographics would be worth giving up the Hispanic block. TheWalkingGhost

But I think as Hispanics assimilate and become more upwardly mobile they may begin to slip away from the Democrats.

Blacks haven't.

Issues that's what!

Cuban Americans, many of them are well to do and well off and tends to vote Republicans....In normal times...This year, 49%, a majority voted for Obama and teh Dems instead. Why? It's called imigration reform....If Republicans farts on immigration reforms again, they can probably kiss the Latino vote goodbye for good this time!

Same with me. As Asian-Americans, we are well to do also and SHOULD be, key word on should be voting Republicans. But me, my family and my friends all voted Dems. Why? As one of my friend said, the REpubs and their social stance scare the crap out of me!

There is an old saying, if you are not a liberal by the age 20, you are without a heart. If you are not a conservative by age 40, then you are without a brain. AFter the election, when some nutter tried to shove that down our throats threatening, "If you are not a republican by age 40, then go and kill yourself!". Someone responded, "In this day and age, if you are indeed a republican by age 40, then you are INDEED without a brain!" After the nutter expended himself in rage, the guy came back and said, "And this is why! We will not vote for a party that had lost its soul, kicked its compassion to the curb side and ripped out its heart!" And that in all its glory, highlights the problem Republican faces today! Simply put, there message, espcially socially, is so far gone to the right, it's simply scaring people, some of whom may want to vote for them, to the left. It's like all these women on Facebook pages I've seen. "I would like to vote for Romney, but unfortunately, I have a vag"....I wonder why....**cough cough** Atkins and Murdock and the rest of the Republicans who opened their mouths and caught "foot n' mouth diesease!"
