Hmm, it's weird... Last night and the night before, the muslim community close to where I live had fireworks and a rather large gathering, but last night it sounded like a birthday party and the night before it sounded like they were celebrating Eid. And yet some people here have posted Eid wasn't until today.. What gives?

It (and the start of Ramadan as well), is based on crescent moon sightings (lol 2012), so it might differ from place to place.
