i assume your atheist?, i find myself to be more agnosticAnimal-MotherThat does not tell me much. You can be atheistic and still be agnostic--you can also be theistic and also be agnostic. Oh, and, my previous post is just my hypothetical. ;)

No because God does not exist.CptJSparrow
I see what you did there :P
Yes I have.....it is quite a read, some parts are quite inspiring..
I read it sometimes. Revelations is the best book in the bible. It's really epic and fun to read.
I do like some of the parables though, like the prodigal son.
I've read the Genesis and the Apocalypse fully. Other parts I've read sporadically.
It's not exactly great literature, but it is interesting. The Apocalypse sounds like the rantings of a paranoid schizophrenic on LSD, which is fun.

The rantings of a paranoid schizophrenic on LSD who had no access to drugs on an island where he was enslaved? For a crazy person, he sure got popular. . .

Montana exists.:|
It doesn't. Every time I fly over Montana I only see North Dakota. Every time I try to drive through Montana, a police officer informs me that the state is closed for maintenance.
The only logical conclusion is that Montana doesn't actually exist.

He didn't have access to drugs, but he didn't have access to food or water either. What happens when you have no food or water? You hallucinate. Same effect.
On a side note, I reccomend everyone interested in the bible to get "The Message," it's the bible written in contemporary language. No more King James "Thou shalt hast blah blah blah..." You can finally read the bible like a book!

Yes I've read it all the way through, twice actually. For the guy who said "6 days...come on", it was pretty damn obvious to me that was figurative. The reason most people insult or criticize things from the Bible is because they're too stupid to understand them, or to close-minded to consider another interpretation. Thanks for demonstrating.Rhythmic_Tell that to someone who read that in the bible before 1859. ;)

By too stupid, you mean believing the stuff in the bible, right?
aw come on. I'm an atheist as well and I've read the Bible from cover to cover (just about).

You can quote me on that! Cuz ignorance is really the root of all evil. It breeds intolerance, violence, belief, and inequality.

They weren't stupid. They just didn't have the science we have now to help them understand that many things in the Bible are most likely not literal.

Unfortunately you both forgot that there is such a thing as difference of opinion. You seem to write off opinions which conflict with your own as "ignorant." That's just not how it is.

If the Bible were intended to be interpreted in a specific manner, would that manner change because of the discoveries of science?"the illusion of knowledge is belief, and belief is ignorance, because when you BELIEVE something your mind is closed to alternatives to a given situation"

Very enlightening conversation comrades, it's nice to not be listening to raving idiots saying that Hillary Clinton is a "Demon"

Roman soldiers brought him food and water. . .I believe one of them took a liking to him.:|
Oh, nonsense. A belief does not have to be a delusion, a delusion being a fixed false belief that is resistant to conflicting information. I can believe you are 17 and refuse to believe otherwise when you prove that you are not 17, or I can be convinced by conflicting evidence. The illusion of knowledge is a lie, an absolute, an assumption, or an authority that is not questioned. Ignorance is the tool by which this false information may spread."the illusion of knowledge is belief, and belief is ignorance, because when you BELIEVE something your mind is closed to alternatives to a given situation"

She's not a demon. She's a threat to national security, the national economy, the proven free market, international stabilitiy, and the well-being of every single American...except herself and Bill.

That's very interesting. Where did you come by that information? If you have a link, please post it. That would disprove my entire theory on Revalations.

Hmm, well you're pretty close, I'm 16 years old, but from a more philosophical standpoint, and from my *ahem* life experiance (mostly communitarian stuff, I'm big on being social) I have learned that people believe things because they are ignorant, and they are ignorant only because of laziness. It seems to me that laziness is something that everyone has, so everyone has that one specific "flaw." For example, my personal philosophy is the belief that belief closes your mind, and it is also a contradiction, see.
