No, not really.
I've been a member of Gamespot since 2004, and have never been swayed away from my beliefs based on what I've read here, no matter how "intellectual" it may sound. The difficulty in discussing, dissecting, and scrutinizing religion in any way is that it is entirely based on faith. Therefore, attempting to rationalize it in any way is futile.
I've always considered my belief in God as separate from my understanding of, and search for, scientific truth. It seems likely to me that if there is a creator, and He is not bound by the natural and observable laws that everything else is subject to, then I have no way of knowing that we could ever find a means through which to understand or detect Him.

All that needs to be said/asked :P
id say it opened me up to religion.
before, i wasnt sure what to believe. kinda lost, had no clue. i only knew catholic and atheist.
then i came across the Whats your religion threads. its there where i found the religion that best suits my beliefs. Deism.
Why Yes! now I avoid any religious argument whenever I have the chance.DarthkaiserThis usually. Religious arguments end with everyone mad and still having the same opinion when they started the argument.
Those 'highly intellectual posts' are an interesting read (and I have learnt much about the varying religious beleifs, or lack thereof, through those posts), but they have done naught to change my belief in the existence of God.
One thing however is that they've opened my mind and allowed me to question things for myself instead of just taking at face value what some guy on a pulpit says.

nope. I still believe in God. I don't participate in religion threads anymore since I realized that most people don't change their views anyways.

I sort of go by many faiths. I don't follow any, but I believe in Wiccan magic and agree strongly with the teachings of the Buddha. And though I don't technically believe in it. The idea of a higher being, or "creator" makes sense to me. I also believe in ghosts.

Glad I don't live in your world - there's women in my world.
:lol:Nope, still don't believe in any God's, unicorns, leprechauns, goblins, ghosts, or anything else equally as silly. If anything, the people here are even less convincing than those on youtube I usually engage with. I think I see more poorly thought out lines of reasoning or belief systems from theists here because you don't have to put a face to what it is you're saying unlike on youtube where you could really embarrass yourself.KeitekeTokageYou don't believe in ghosts..?

o.0Well, technically, yes. Before I came here I considered myself a Christian. After a few months of reading stuff on here, I realized that I had absolutely no reason whatsoever to follow any religion and basically became an atheist. So far, the only part of religion that I like to keep in my life is the artistic value.
Not really.
religious beliefs still hold firm, there was a time i swayed towards something akin to Deism, but that was not because of Gamespot or any forum, but rather my own introspection. That being said, still Muslim, still do the practices, and still make my prayers.
I've softened my political viewpoints, but again not becaue of Gamespot. Probably the most notable social-political issue i've basically 180'd on is LGBT rights. I'm for the legal rights and protection, but i don't feel comfortable or agree with the "different genders" to kindergardners or the government paying for sex change ops.
Nor do i find 99% of the threads here 'intellectually' stimulating. I tried for a while to enter into the discuesions and arguements, and i ended up being way stressed out over it. since avoiding it like the plague it is, i've been much happier. doesn't mean i remain ignorant, i still read stuff. I just don't wanna read "i'm an angry teen and i hate all religions because x and x and x" or cherry picking polemics and bigots.

o.0 *_________*Actually, yes, in a roundabout fashion. Arguing with the then-resident fundamentalist evangelical Christians caused me to research and study the Bible in a much deeper and broader fashion than I had done before, the ultimately results of which have quite significantly affected where I feel I stand with regards to religion.

I'm kinda the same. It wasn't just OT for me, there were a lot of other factors such as a general drive for more introspection, my past experiences with religion, and college providing an environment where for the first time I didn't feel like being an atheist would be stigmatized, but OT discussions played a part as well.
