Nope. I've been atheist my entire life. Both of my parents are atheist as well. I didn't even know what religion was until about 4th or 5th grade

Yes, GS has changed my religious view. I'm now even more convinced the church was just a fad back in the 1600s, it's fading away slowly now. It's made me super atheist.

If anything, seeing the "Higlhy Intelectual posts" Has only made me a stronger Christian, and especially a stonger Catholic (Which should really be one and the same)

This. I can honestly say I am stronger in my faith now then I was before I started coming here more regularly. OT makes me see all the faults of humanity (no offence Intended), and how we should seek out God for guidance every day.

No. I have actually grown stronger in my faith (Christianity). I enjoy reading the religious threads here though and having a good discussion about them. I am interested to see these "highly intellectual" posts you are referring to.

Seriously? Well to answer your question, no. If someone had to denounce Christianity because of something others have said, then they weren't really connected to God in the first place. Read John 10:27-30. Focus on verse 28.

I literally meant "no offence". We all make mistakes, and we're all human. People posting threads linked to stories about killings, and corrupted politicians. Threads about people asking for help when they could seek God's help instead. We all fall short, not just OT, and to me that means we all need God. You might not think so, but that's what I believe.

I don't care if you've somehow convinced yourself that you meant to offence, it's still a statement that carries offence. It's completely arrogant and self-righteous, and I think you said no offence intended specifically because you realized this.

No, not really.

I've been a member of Gamespot since 2004, and have never been swayed away from my beliefs based on what I've read here, no matter how "intellectual" it may sound. The difficulty in discussing, dissecting, and scrutinizing religion in any way is that it is entirely based on faith. Therefore, attempting to rationalize it in any way is futile.

I've always considered my belief in God as separate from my understanding of, and search for, scientific truth. It seems likely to me that if there is a creator, and He is not bound by the natural and observable laws that everything else is subject to, then I have no way of knowing that we could ever find a means through which to understand or detect Him.

No, you're acting in this typical self-righteous religious way, as if you can see each and every fault of the entire human race. You put it forward as a weak attempt at getting people to listen to you, and then when they ask you what to do about it you give them the typical religious BS answer that there is nothing you can do but dedicate your life to god because everything is flawed. It's arrogant and condescending, and I think that on some level you realize that.

I think you're putting a different spin on his meaning. I understood what he meant. He probably did say, "No offense," because he knew it would offend someone, so not to offend anyone.

Actually I was expecting my OP to be totally over-looked. As for my self righteous attitude I don't know what to say to you. It's easy to make it sound like I'm being condescending in your mind when you have no idea what I'm thinking or how I'm acting. Any way I came into this thread to state that my religious views remain un-swayed in the face of nay-sayers, and why I think God is important, but you don't want me to. I've said all I can say, but you just make it out to be religious bs, so I can't make you see it from another prospective even if that wasn't my goal in the first place.

Kind of. It's made me realise that different cultures can bend the same religion to conform to their own, unique regional conservatism and yet remain totally oblivious to the contradictions. It's also taught me that there are intelligent people on both sides of the fence and not to take other people's perspectives for granted.

It did change my views because we're often influenced by our peers. I used to not know anything about religions, but I adopted the habit of hating every thing that had to do with religions. Part of that came from being influenced by others who thought the same thing. Fortunately, I have changed and have made progress towards being tolerant and not so angry. You are making your own calamities when all you want to do is find fault with what others believe.

Here we go, the ever-present persecution complex of the largest religion on the globe, how predictable. Yes, because you made a very arrogant remark and I called you on it now all of the sudden I'm some raging anti-religious bigot who wants to see no expression of religion anywhere. There are plenty of other people who ahve stated in this thread that god is important and I didn't pick a fight with them because they have a right to their beliefs and I really don't see how it's any of my business if it doesn't affect anyone else. You, however, specifically made it about more than just your personal faith with your self-righteous attitude and condescending ermark about how OT made you see all the faults of humanity. You can continue to delude yourself all you want, but any sensible person can tell you that's arrogant behavior.

i'd worry about it, personally. ;d

Why worry. If your belief is strong then you shouldn't care what I say. I come on here and see many offensive things, and I take it in stride because I know some people roll a different way, and I can't do anything about it. I don't see why my post should be any different, I mean we're all mature adults here, I can take your beliefs, I hope can take mine.

Out in the world I see a lot of things that make me want to trow up. I see things in the store, I see things on the news, I see things in OT, I see things in my own behavior that I just know are wrong, and that makes me closer to God because I know how much we need him. I'm really sorry if I offended you that much, I guess I figured that we can agree that the world isn't perfect, and I over stepped my boundaries. I'm sorry for that.

Yes I used to be an agnostic and not care about religion Then I came on here and became an atheist and defending my position Then I realized those arguments are pointless and in actual fact I don't care what others believe in so I went back to agnostic

Perhaps he's saying he's tolerant of others having their own beliefs.
