Yes.
In college I had this English teacher who made you read every assignment, or else she would literally make you leave the classroom (this is wrong on so many levels).
Anyway, it was a summer class, which means moving season. Unfortunately, my stupid roommates were gone for the summer so me and one other roommate had to move all the stuff in the house to our new place. It took me all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
In short, I was not able to do the reading assignment.
I emailed my teacher and told her, assuming she would be reasonable and say "Yes, these are extenuating circumstances" but she did not get back to me.
So I go to class and sit there, listening to people talk, and then she got on my case because I was not participating. I told the teacher about the email, about my situation, and she flips out on me for no reason at all and yells at me to get out of class.
I go to her office hours to confront her and she says she got mad at me because "attending class without reading the material gives you and unfair advantage" like that is some excuse to yell at someone in front of 30 people. Its college; crap happens, students dont always read the stuff and for legit reasons, you dont have to be so mean about it.
We did not have a quiz or anything, and I was caught up on the reading by the end of the day as I had originally planned.
